[Coronary artery bypass grafting: evolution of coronary disease characteristics and immediate surgical outcomes over a decade].
Several factors intervene in the evolution of the characteristics of Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), such as demographic changes, surgical technique, and perioperative care. Our objective was to analyze the evolution of the characteristics of coronary artery disease in patients treated with CABG and its immediate results. ⋯ There was a significant increase in the estimated surgical risk; however, mortality remained unchanged. The increase in surgical risk is consistent with the increase in mean age and prevalence of comorbidities, as well as the increase in severe ventricular dysfunction in the group ofpatients with ventricular dysfunction and recent AMI in the second period.

Review[Endomyocardial biopsy in current practice: Technical Aspects, Indications and complications].
Endomyocardial biopsy (EMB) is an invasive procedure and a diagnostic tool used mainly on the follow-up of post-heart transplant rejection in the past years. Currently, it has an important role in the diagnosis of non-ischemic cardiomyopathies. ⋯ Diagnostic performance has improved with advances in pathology analysis. Its complications risk, close to 1% in high-volume interventional centers, can be justified considering the potential benefit of an accurate diagnosis and prognosis.

[Post-Thyroidectomy Hypocalcemia: Incidence, Prediction, and Outpatient Management Strategies Based on PTH and Calcium Levels].
PTH measurement has been proposed to predict transient and permanent postoperative hypocalcemia. There is no standard cut-off point or time for sampling. ⋯ Protocols for measuring PTH as a hypocalcemia predictor vary. Each center must know and establish its management protocols. With this experience, we demonstrate the usefulness and safety of a management scheme based on calcium, PTH (normal, low, or undetectable), and symptoms with an indication of prophylactic treatment for all patients and a safe outpatient setting at a lower cost than prolonged hospitalization.

Observational Study[Risk of mortality of severe SARS-CoV-2 infection and other causes of viral pneumonia in Chile].
Severe community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) due to respiratory viruses is highly prevalent in Chile. Common etiologies include Influenza A and B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), Hantavirus, and SARS-CoV-2 since 2020. ⋯ COVID-19 was not associated with an increased risk of 30-day mortality compared to other common respiratory viruses in our study. Older age, immunosuppression, and cyanosis were associated with higher risk among patients with severe viral CAP.

[Osteosarcoma as a GES-Listed Pathology: 7-Year Experience at a National Reference Center].
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most frequent malignant primary bone tumor. The explicit health guarantee (GES) plan in Chile, a law that guarantees diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, incorporated OS in 2014. ⋯ This is our country's first demographic description study of patients with OS. In our series, the age of presentation and the presence of metastases at admission were factors that significantly affect prognosis. When adjusting for age, the survival percentages are comparable to those reported in other international centers specialized in sarcomas.
