Case ReportsEosinophilia highly probable induced by carbapenems: A case report.
Eosinophilia is a challenge to our everyday clinical practice. There are multiple causes to consider when diagnosing eosinophilia, and drug hypersensitivity must be taken into account. ⋯ Allergy tests are not always as helpful as we would like, so we rely on clinical observation and laboratory analysis to establish our diagnosis. We present a unique clinical case because the same patient presented two clinical episodes of eosinophilia after the administration of Carbapenems in the context of abdominal infection.

[Dying during the pandemic: Experiences of relatives of patients who died during the COVID-19 pandemic in Chile].
The COVID-19 pandemic marked a milestone in the history of medicine worldwide. Together with the humanitarian drama it represented, the problems that arose are promoting lines of research in multiple fields. One of these fields is the aspects related to medical communication and end-of-life care. This paper reports the experiences and perceptions of relatives of patients who died during the pandemic with a psychospiritual support intervention in a public hospital in the Metropolitan Region, Chile, called "farewell". ⋯ It is argued that the end of life is an area that requires physical and psychospiritual spaces, and adequate training at all levels to do justice to a highly relevant moment in the care of people.

Review[Early integration of palliative care; implications for people with chronic diseases].
Globally, there is a growing number of population with noncommunicable and aging diseases that are eligible for palliative care. ⋯ Palliative care is a strategy of care for all people with complex chronic pathologies, which should be integrated early, in an active, multidimensional and safe way, under the wing of a trained and coordinated health team at different levels of care.

[Association between pain and depression in chilean older adults. Reality that requires an immediate approach].
ABASTRACT Background: To study the association between pain and depression, its characteristics and related factors in chilean older adults. ⋯ The association between pain and depression is high and is related to pain intensity, being higher in people with less education and physical dependency. The high frequency of both conditions in Chilean elderly people and their serious consequences make it an urgent public health problem, aggravated as a consequence of the prolonged isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

[Perceptions and experiences of users who received outpatient COVID-19 care in Santiago, Chile].
To explore the perceptions and experiences of COVID-19 patients who received outpatient treatment in public health services in the Metropolitan Region of Chile. ⋯ The experiences of patients show the need to strengthen communication and information strategies for patients who receive outpatient care during the pandemic. This is key to reducing misinformation, fear and uncertainty about the progression of the disease and the potential recovery. Consequently, this could impact clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
