[Developing a strategy to strengthen the intercultural competency in the undergraduate nursing curriculum].
In a health context marked by increasing health inequalities, population ageing, pandemics and migration, the development of competencies for the intercultural encounter between healthcare workers and patients is essential. Tertiary education institutions have a social responsibility to address this issue. ⋯ Therefore, it is necessary to reflect upon the models that will guide this process, and to assess undergraduate curricula to determine their appropriateness to address this challenge. This article describes a methodology for assessing the undergraduate curriculum for the development of intercultural competence and presents a strategy for promoting its sustainable development across the curriculum.

The Chilean Metropolitan region is exposed to nitrogen dioxide levels that are above the WHO Air Quality Guidelines. ⋯ We provide valid information to review and adjust primary air quality standards for nitrogen dioxide. The exposed population should be educated about the risk of this exposure to promote self-care.

[Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for the diagnosis of acute myocarditis mimicking a myocardial infarction].
Acute myocarditis frequently mimics an acute myocardial infarction, and its diagnosis is a clinical challenge. ⋯ Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is the diagnostic method of choice for diagnosing acute myocarditis when it mimics an acute myocardial infarction.

Euthanasia is a subject of permanent discussion everywhere, mainly about its ethical appropriateness and about its legalization in different countries. This debate includes many ethical, legal, social, political, spiritual, religious, and public health issues. ⋯ The goal of this article is to contribute to an improvement of the social and legislative discussion about euthanasia through an elucidation of the main terms and notions linked to this topic. We present definitions and explanations for euthanasia, assisted suicide, withdrawal or foregoing of therapy, treatment rejection, palliative sedation, dignified death and others.

[Off pump coronary artery bypass surgery long term results after 20 years in a cardiac center in Chile].
The benefits of off-pump coronary artery bypass graft (OPCAB) compared with conventional on-pump coronary artery bypass graft are not well established although several studies show excellent long-term results. ⋯ OPCAB surgery is a safe surgical technique, with an excellent bypass durability and permeability. It also provides a prolonged time free from cardiac events such as mortality, angina, myocardial infarction, and freedom from a new coronary procedure.
