Multicenter Study[Tacrolimus in Difficult to Treat Proteinuria Associated with Lupus Nephritis. Experience of 3 Centers].
The management of proteinuria in patients with lupus nephritis represents a challenge for the specialist. Recently, Calcineurin Inhibitors have been positioned as an effective alternative in these patients, but their use is not widespread in our country. Multicenter Study[Development of Normative Data for the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) in the Elderly Population of Chile: A Multi-City Study].
The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) is one of the most widely used tests to assess the global cognitive deterioration of older adults. There are many versions of this Test in Spanish. A validation study was previously conducted in Chile, but to date, no standards computed from a large population sample are available. ⋯ This article provides normative scores for the MMSE that should be useful in clinical practice as they may help better interpret the performances of Chilean older adults who seek consultation for cognitive impairment.

Multicenter Study[Antibiotic treatment of choice for urinary sepsis associated with ureteral lithiasis in Chile. Multicenter study].
Inadequate antibiotic coverage in septic patients is associated with higher morbidity and mortality. This multicentric study reports antibiotic susceptibility in patients with ureterolithiasis-associated urosepsis, aiming to propose an optimal empirical therapy for this disease in the Chilean population. ⋯ The microorganisms found in our cohort were similar to those in international reports. Since the highest level of susceptibility was for amikacin, we propose its use as empirical therapy for urosepsis associated with ureterolithiasis in Chile. It is always necessary to consider the potential nephrotoxic effects of amikacin. An association of beta-lactams and glycopeptides should be considered in patients with risk factors for enterococcal infections.

Multicenter Study[Assessing Convalescent Plasma Efficacy in Moderate COVID-19 Hospitalizations: A Bicentric Retrospective Study].
COVID-19 claimed millions of lives, mainly in the pre-vaccine era. Preliminary studies showed promising efficacy of convalescent plasma against SARS-CoV-2 (CP). ⋯ The use of CP in patients hospitalized for moderately severe COVID-19 was not associated with lower mortality, hospital stay, or the need for IMV.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyPharmacotherapy and clinical outcomes of hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Chile during the first wave of pandemic.
The largest growth in cases of COVID-19 worldwide during 2020 was in the Americas, and Chile was one of the most affected countries. ⋯ The patterns of use of drugs to treat COVID-19 in Chile during the first wave of the pandemic were very dynamic and followed the international, evidence-based guidelines. The low mortality rate indicates that the clinical management of hospitalized patients was adequate.
