Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Effects of ramipril and spironolactone on ventricular remodeling after acute myocardial infarction: randomized and double-blind study].
Studies have shown that angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition prevents left ventricular remodeling and cardiovascular events after an acute myocardial infarction. The role of aldosterone in ventricular remodeling after a myocardial infarction has not been addressed. ⋯ Ramipril and spironolactone had similar effects on ventricular remodeling after acute myocardial infarction, suggesting that aldosterone contributes to this phenomenon and that inhibition of its receptor may be as effective as ACE inhibition in its prevention.

[Genetic factors study in family aggregation of schizophrenia in Santiago, Chile].
Genetic epidemiological studies indicate that genetic factors contribute to a familial aggregation of schizophrenia. The form of inheritance has not been elucidated but most studies have been done in Caucasian populations. ⋯ Our results show the participation of a major dominant locus and a multifactorial component in the inheritance of schizophrenia, as has been reported elsewhere.
