Osteomas are relatively common, benign, slow-growing neoplasms. Mainly occurring in frontal and ethmoid sinuses. Endoscopic surgery plays an important role in management of ethmoid, sphenoid and frontal osteomas. ⋯ Size of tumor determines type of surgical aprroach. Endoscopic surgery is more and more popular way in surgical treatment of giant osteomas.

This work aimed to analyse the mean arterial blood pressure (MBP) and heart rate (HR) in patients who underwent laryngological surgery within the preoperative, perioperative and postoperative periods. ⋯ The own experience indicates that perioperative lowering of BP, including hypotension, ought to be avoided in cardiology patients. The postoperative BP raise, usually accompanied by pain, was noticed in the own studies. Therefore, effective analgesic treatment should be implemented in a recovery room.

The aim of the study was to determine the usefulness of 18-FFDG PET/CT in oncological diagnostics in laryngology. ⋯ 18F-FDG PET/CT is a useful diagnostic tool for staging of head and neck cancer, identifying residual and recurrent disease and detecting the occult primary tumour. It also allows the visualization of other lesions suspected for malignancy, localized outside the head and neck region.

Concomitant radiochemotherapy become the treatment of choice for locally advanced SCHNC. This strategy of treatment has a limitation, which is an acute and late toxicity. The IMRT technique provides the possibility of better sparing of healthy tissue. Radiobiological and clinical data also suggest that accelerated fractionation and higher dose per fraction given in GTV may produce better locoregional control. Therefore it might be expected that concomitant chemotherapy and SIB-IMRT radiotherapy could increase locoregional control and reduce acute and late radiation reactions. The evaluation of early results and toxicity of this treatment modality is presented. ⋯ At the present moment it might be concluded that accelerated radiotherapy with SIB-IMRT given concomitantly with cisplatin produce excellent local control in patients treated of III-IV stage SCHNC without increasing toxicity.

Processing of auditory information in central nervous system bases on the series of quickly occurring neural processes that cannot be separately monitored using only the fMRI registration. Simultaneous recording of the auditory evoked potentials, characterized by good temporal resolution, and the functional magnetic resonance imaging with excellent spatial resolution allows studying higher auditory functions with precision both in time and space. ⋯ The results showed that applied paradigm is suitable for investigation of acoustic processing on the level of auditory cortex. Technique of the simultaneous AEP-fMRI registrations seems to be promising for investigation of more complex nervous processes in central auditory system with good temporo-spatial resolution.
