Impact of preinjury anticoagulation in patients with traumatic brain injury.
This study was undertaken to examine the impact of various anticoagulation agents in head injury patients. ⋯ Pre-head injury anticoagulation did not have any significant impact on outcomes.

To determine if heroin body packing has occurred using computed tomography (CT), and to evaluate the role of CT in screening such cases. ⋯ Heroin body packing has clearly defined diagnostic features that can be seen with CT. Furthermore, conventional abdominal-pelvic CT is the imaging modality of choice in the evaluation of suspected body packers.

Weight perception and weight control practice in a multiethnic sample of US adolescents.
Obesity is disproportionately prevalent among many racial/ethnic minority groups. The main objectives of this study are (1) to examine the extent of body weight misperception for a representative sample of US adolescents; (2) to explore the gender and racial/ethnic differences associated with an adolescents' weight goals and weight loss attempts and; (3) to examine the influence of an array of sociodemographic factors (eg socioeconomic status) on body weight misperception in adolescents. ⋯ Differences in weight perception, weight goals, and weight loss attempts among ethnic and racial groups call for targeted obesity control efforts.

Maternal characteristics and outcomes associated with late enrollment for care in teenage pregnancies.
To identify characteristics associated with late prenatal care in adolescent mothers. ⋯ Third trimester enrollment for prenatal care in adolescents is associated with higher rates of adverse perinatal outcomes. Interventions to improve prenatal care enrollment among adolescents should be sought.
