Recurrence of chronic subdural hematoma after trepanation and drainage.
To sum up the causes of recurrence of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) from failure of trepanation and drainage and explore its prevention and treatment. ⋯ Most CSDHs which recur after trepanation and drainage can be cured by retrepanation and redrainage. For the patients with repeated recurrence of CSDH removal of hematoma capsule can be considered. The causes of recurrence of CSDH are related to disease course, the thickness of hematoma capsule, the severity of encephalatraphy and whether the hematoma cavity is drained or irrigated completely, and operation methods.

Cloning of differentially expressed genes following lipopolysaccharide stimulation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells.
To clone the differentially expressed genes in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). ⋯ SSH is a powerful technique of high sensitivity for the detection of differential gene expression in HUVEC stimulated by LPS.

Complications induced by decompressive craniectomies after traumatic brain injury.
To find out the optimal approach to decompress externally the severe injured brain and to avoid possible complications caused by external decompression. ⋯ To reduce the incidence of iatrogenic side effects, surgical craniectomy should be performed according to the strict indication and standard and any abuse should be avoided.

Study on repair of peripheral nerve injury has been proceeding over a long period of time. With the use of microsurgery technique since 1960s the quality of nerve repair has been greatly improved. In the past 40 years, with the continuous increase of surgical repair methods, more progress has been made on the basic research of peripheral nerve repair.

Screw placement of pedicle of vertebral arch--pay great attention to segmental differences of the pedicle.
To investigate appropriate ways for screw placement of pedicle of vertebral arch in the horizontal plane. ⋯ The segmental difference method is proved to have the anatomic safety and screw biomechanical stability. It is appropriate to choose different diametral screws, different drilling points and directions according to different segments of the vertebra.
