ReviewTopic-Based, Recent Literature Review on Pulmonary Hypertension.
Pulmonary hypertension is a complex condition but a relatively common manifestation of severe cardiopulmonary disease. By contrast, pulmonary arterial hypertension is uncommon and is more prevalent in young women. To better categorize patients and to guide clinical decision-making, 5 diagnostic groups and associated subgroups characterize the spectrum of disease. ⋯ Of the subgroups, 2 were of particular interest for this review: portopulmonary hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Last, available data on the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic and newer treatment agents in early trials were selectively reviewed. The review is therefore intended to serve as a practical, focused review of important topics germane to those clinicians caring for patients with pulmonary hypertension.

Treatment of Obesity: Pharmacotherapy Trends of Office-Based Visits in the United States From 2011 to 2016.
To examine pharmacotherapy for obesity in the United States from 2011 to 2016 using a large, nationally representative sample. ⋯ There was a slight increase in antiobesity medication mentions, from 0.26% in 2011 to 0.28% in 2016, but only 1% of office-based visits for patients with obesity received a prescription for an antiobesity medication. Physicians tended to prescribe antiobesity medications to those with obesity aged 51 years or older and residing in the South. Antiobesity medication for treatment of obesity is significantly underused.

Decline of Influenza and Respiratory Viruses With COVID-19 Public Health Measures: Alberta, Canada.
To determine the incidence of influenza and noninfluenza respiratory viruses (NIRVs) pre-/post-implementation of public health measures aimed to decrease coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) transmission using population-based surveillance data. We hypothesized that such measures could reduce the burden of respiratory viruses (RVs) transmitting via the same routes. ⋯ The implementation of COVID-19 public health measures likely resulted in reduced transmission of common RVs. Although drastic lockdowns are unlikely to be required given widespread COVID-19 vaccination, targeted implementation of such measures can lower RV disease burden. Studies to evaluate relative contributions of individual interventions are warranted.
