Machine Learning Techniques Differentiate Alcohol-Associated Hepatitis From Acute Cholangitis in Patients With Systemic Inflammation and Elevated Liver Enzymes.
To develop machine learning algorithms (MLAs) that can differentiate patients with acute cholangitis (AC) and alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH) using simple laboratory variables. ⋯ Using a few routine laboratory variables, MLAs can differentiate patients with AC and AH and may serve valuable adjunctive roles in cases of diagnostic uncertainty.

Adherence to a Mediterranean Lifestyle and Changes in Frequency, Severity, and Localization of Pain in Older Adults.
To assess the association between adherence to a Mediterranean lifestyle and changes in pain, and its characteristics over time in older adults. ⋯ A Mediterranean lifestyle was associated with improvement of pain characteristics in older adults. Experimental studies should assess the efficacy of an integral lifestyle approach for the management of pain in older adults.

Long-term Cardiovascular Risk in Astronauts: Comparing NASA Mission Astronauts With a Healthy Cohort From the Cooper Center Longitudinal Study.
To determine the long-term cardiovascular disease risk of astronauts with spaceflight exposure compared with a well-matched cohort. ⋯ No increased risk of CVD mortality was observed in astronauts with spaceflight exposure compared with a well-matched cohort, but there was evidence of increased total CVD events. Given that the duration of spaceflight will increase, particularly on missions to Mars, continued surveillance and mitigation of CVD risk is needed to ensure the safety of those who venture into space.

Efficacy of Prolonged Antibiotic Therapy for Renal Cyst Infections in Polycystic Kidney Disease.
To determine the impact of antibiotic therapy (ATBT) on outcomes of renal cyst infection (CyI) in patients with polycystic kidney disease. ⋯ Initial first-line ATBT had no significant effect on renal CyI treatment failure. Treatment duration of 28 days and longer reduced recurrences.

Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Octogenarians-Risks, Outcomes, and Trends in 1283 Consecutive Patients.
To describe the risks, outcomes, and trends in patients older than 80 years undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). ⋯ Although CABG in octogenarians carries a higher surgical risk, it may be associated with favorable outcomes and increase in long-term survival. Further studies are warranted to define subgroups benefiting more from surgical revascularization.
