Intravenous Thrombolysis for Acute Ischemic Stroke in Patients Receiving Antiplatelet Therapy: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of 19 Studies.
The safety and long-term outcome of systemic thrombolysis in patients receiving antiplatelet medications remain subjects of great clinical significance. The objective of this meta-analysis was to determine how prestroke antiplatelet therapy affects the risks and benefits of intravenous thrombolysis in patients with acute ischemic stroke. ⋯ Patients with acute ischemic stroke receiving long-term antiplatelet medications were associated with greater risks of developing symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage after systemic thrombolysis. However, the overall independent association between prestroke antiplatelet therapy and unfavorable outcomes or mortality was insignificant.

False Lumen Status in Patients With Acute Aortic Dissection: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
The long-term association between the status of the false lumen and poor patient outcomes in acute aortic dissection (AAD) remains unclear. This systematic review and meta-analysis investigated whether the status of the false lumen was a predictor of poor long-term survival in AAD. ⋯ The false lumen status influences late outcomes in AAD. Residual patent false lumen is independently associated with poor long-term survival in AAD. However, only type B AAD patients with partial false lumen thrombosis had an increased late mortality risk.

Whereas insurance status has been previously associated with care patterns, little is currently known about the association between Medicaid insurance and the clinical characteristics, treatment, or outcomes of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). ⋯ In a contemporary AF cohort, use of OAC overall and use of NOACs were not significantly lower among Medicaid patients relative to others. However, among warfarin users, Medicaid patients spent less time in therapeutic range compared with those with other forms of insurance.
