Joint hypermobility and disk displacement confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging: a study of women with temporomandibular disorders.
The objective of this study was to test whether or not there is an association between generalized joint hypermobility (measured using the Beighton score) and temporomandibular joint disk displacement in women who had sought medical attention for temporomandibular disorders (TMD). ⋯ Generalized joint hypermobility may be a factor related to TMD, but we did not find an association between generalized joint hypermobility and anterior disk displacement in women.

Case ReportsAdjacent dentigerous cysts with the ectopic displacement of a third mandibular molar and supernumerary (forth) molar: a rare occurrence.
Dentigerous cysts are the most common odontological cysts of the jaws, being associated with the crowns of permanent teeth, especially unerupted mandibular third molars. Multiple dentigerous cysts are rare and most often occur in association with a developmental syndrome. This article presents an unusual case of nonsyndromic adjacent dentigerous cysts associated with a mandibular third molar and a supernumerary molar. This occurrence has not been previously reported.

Review Case ReportsPneumomediastinum and subcutaneous emphysema after dental extraction detected incidentally by regular medical checkup: a case report.
Most cases of pneumomediastinum are caused by iatrogenic injury during surgery on the cervical region and chest or by tracheostomy. It is also well known that emphysema may occur secondary to dental treatment using an air turbine drill, but there have been few cases of emphysema extending to involve the mediastinum. Presented is a rare case in which subcutaneous emphysema and pneumomediastinum developed asymptomatically, probably due to extraction of a mandibular third molar, and were found incidentally on the day after the dental procedure. To avoid subcutaneous emphysema and pneumomediastinum associated with dental treatment and surgical intraoral procedures such as tooth extraction, air turbine drills should be used only when it is essential.

Case ReportsTreatment of microstomia with commissuroplasties and semidynamic acrylic splints.
Microstomia is defined as an abnormal small oral orifice. Burns and injuries of perioral tissues, perioral surgeries, and genetic disorders can lead to perioral scar formations and restrict mouth opening. ⋯ The aim of this report is to assess the effects of surgical commissuroplasty techniques combined with the application of semidynamic mouth splints on 4 microstomia patients with different etiologies. The combination of surgical and conservative techniques proves to be the best method of treating compromised perioral tissues in microstomia patients.

Fixation properties of a biodegradable "free-form" osteosynthesis plate with screws with cut-off screw heads: biomechanical evaluation over 26 weeks.
The aim of this study was to compare the postoperative fixation properties of a biodegradable osteosynthesis "free-form" plate achieved with countersunk screws with those provided by screws with cut-off screw heads. ⋯ According to these results, fixation of the biodegradable osteosynthesis free-form plate with screws with cut-off screw heads seems to be feasible.
