Review[Advances in research on neuroprotective effects of inert gas].
Inert gas is a group of rare gases with very low activity, their application in medical field has increasingly drawn attentions. It is known that inert gases helium, xenon and argon have protective effects on nervous system and the mechanisms are related to eradicating free radicals, anti-inflammation, suppressing apoptosis, influencing ion channels and so on. Further study on the neuroprotective effect of inert gas will shed light on a new approach to treat neurological diseases.

[Image and hemodynamical features of pulmonary artery branches in COPD with pulmonary artery hypertension].
To investigate the imaging and hemodynamical features of pulmonary artery branches in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH). ⋯ The distal part of right pulmonary artery to lower lobe artery may be affected earlier when the pulmonary pressure increased. It is feasible to study the changes of flow condition in pulmonary artery branches though the combination of CTPA image and relevant software.

[Activation of mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 and inhibition of mitochondrial permeability transition pore involved in cardioprotection of ethanol postconditioning].
To investigate whether activation of mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) and inhibition of mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mitoPTP) were involved in the cardioprotection of ethanol postconditioning in isolated rat heart. ⋯ Ethanol postconditioning has cardioprotection effect, which may be associated with upregulating mitochondrial ALDH2 mRNA expression and inhibiting the opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pore.

Review[Research advances of inflammasome and its role in sepsis].
Inflammasomes are high-molecular-weight, multiprotein complexes in cells, which are assembled after cytoplasmic nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain like receptors (NLRs) sense pathogens and danger signals. The inflammasome can activate caspase-1, and later makes the pro-IL-1β, proIL-18 precursor mature by cleavaging, thereby mediates the innate immunity. Dysregulation of inflammasomes plays an important role in the development of sepsis and other immune inflammatory diseases, thus inflammasome may be a new target for prevention and treatment of sepsis.

[Early high-volume hemofiltration treatment in severe sepsis].
To evaluate the effect of early application of high-volume hemofiltration treatment (HVHF) on the levels of lactic acid, pro-inflammatory cytokines and C-reactive protein (CRP) in plasma, as well as APACHE II score in patients suffering from severe sepsis. ⋯ The early application of HVHF could clear the plasma lactic acid and pro-inflammatory cytokines, and improve the tissue oxygenation in severe sepsis.
