Bipolar hemiarthroplasty for intracapsular femoral neck fractures in elderly patients.
To report outcome of 30 patients who underwent bipolar hemiarthroplasty for intracapsular femoral neck fractures. ⋯ Bipolar hemiarthroplasty conferred good short-term outcome.

Cephalomedullary nail versus sliding hip screw for unstable intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients.
To compare the short-term ambulatory function of elderly patients after fixation of unstable intertrochanteric fractures with either the AO-ASIF proximal femoral nail anti-rotation (PFNA) device or the dynamic hip screw (DHS). ⋯ Unstable intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients with good pre-fracture ambulatory function stabilised with the PFNA resulted in better short-term ambulatory function.

Case ReportsCervical epidural haematoma causing Brown-Sequard syndrome: a case report.
Brown-Sequard syndrome secondary to compression of the spinal cord by an epidural haematoma following minor trauma is rare. A 65-year-old woman presented with neck pain and sudden onset hemiplegia with contralateral anaesthesia. ⋯ She underwent open-door laminoplasty for evacuation of the haematoma. At the 2-year follow-up, she had regained normal sensations and a neurological grade of 5/5.

Randomized Controlled TrialProximal femoral locking plate versus dynamic hip screw for unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures.
To compare the outcome in patients who underwent surgery for unstable intertrochanteric femoral fractures using the proximal femoral locking plate versus the dynamic hip screw (DHS). ⋯ A non-collapsing locking plate achieved bone union in unstable intertrochanteric fractures with lower risks of limb shortening and medialisation of the shaft.

Randomized Controlled TrialRopivacaine versus bupivacaine for 3-in-1 block during total knee arthroplasty.
To compare the use of ropivacaine versus bupivacaine for 3-in-1 block during total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in terms of efficacy and safety (lack of toxicity). ⋯ Ropivacaine and bupivacaine showed similar anesthetic and analgesic effects, but the former had a significantly faster onset time.
