Surgical treatment of cervical subaxial intraspinal extradural cysts using a full-endoscopic uniportal posterior approach.
Symptomatic intraspinal extradural cysts of the cervical subaxial spine are rare, but usually require surgery. Conventional posterior decompression is the gold standard. However, there is increasing experience with endoscopic surgical techniques. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the technical implementation and outcomes of a full-endoscopic uniportal technique via the posterior approach in patients with symptomatic intraspinal extradural cysts of the cervical subaxial spine. ⋯ The full-endoscopic uniportal operation with a posterior approach allows the resection of the cyst and can minimize trauma and destabilization and has technical benefits and a low complication rate. It is an alternative surgical method that can offer advantages and is considered by the authors to be the surgical technique of choice for cervical subaxial intraspinal extradural cysts.

Comparative StudyComparing biomechanical strength of unicortical locking plate versus bicortical compression plate for transverse midshaft metacarpal fracture.
Metacarpal bone fractures constitute 10% of all fractures. Unstable metacarpal fractures require surgical intervention, which poses danger to flexor tendon either due to bicortical drilling or construct of the implant. Unicortical locking plate fixation may be the solution to preventing flexor tendon injury. Studies have compared locking and compression plates. However, in these studies, the biomechanical properties were tested using the static loading method. This study looks into cyclical loading that is more representative of in vivo conditions, particularly for early rehabilitation. We compared the biomechanical strength of the unicortical locking plate and bicortical compression plate system in a transverse metacarpal fracture, tested with cyclical loading and torsion. ⋯ Unicortical locking plate fixation of metacarpal fracture can be reliably applied clinically to produce a strong and stable construct that allows early mobilization of the joints. This will not only reduce the complication rate of metacarpal plating, but also improve the functional outcome of the hand.

Results of tenorrhaphy with early rehabilitation for acute tear of Achilles tendon.
For the treatment of acute Achilles tendon rupture, early rehabilitation after surgical repair is believed to be a useful method. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcome of open tenorrhaphy followed by early rehabilitation. ⋯ Level IV.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison between effect of desflurane/remifentanil and propofol/remifentanil anesthesia on somatosensory evoked potential monitoring during scoliosis surgery-A randomized controlled trial.
Drugs used in anesthesia can affect somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) monitoring, which is used routinely for intraoperative monitoring of spinal cord integrity during spinal surgery. ⋯ Compared with TIVA technique, desflurane/remifentanil anesthesia caused more suppression in cortical SSEP, but not in cervical SSEP, at a comparable depth of anesthesia.

Randomized Controlled TrialMini-plate fixation via sinus tarsi approach is superior to cannulated screw in intra-articular calcaneal fractures: A prospective randomized study.
Intra-articular displaced calcaneal fractures are common fractures and are often treated with surgical interventions. Sinüs tarsi approach provides secure access to lateral wall and joint facets. The aim of the study is to compare cannulated screw (CS) fixation and mini-plate (MP) fixation via sinus tarsi approach with Sanders types 2 and 3 fracture of calcaneus. ⋯ MP fixation via sinus tarsi approach is superior to CS fixation in Sanders types 2 and 3 calcaneal fractures.
