Comparative Study[The levels of stable organic pollutants in the breast milk of women living in the Irkutsk region].
The concentrations of stable organic chlorine pollutants (SOCP) in the breast milk of women living in Irkutsk, Baikalsk, and the settlement of Kachug are lower than those in the increased SOCP-burdened areas of the Irkutsk Region (the town of Usolye-Sibirskoye, settlements on the shore of the Baikal Lake) and comparable with those in Russia and industrially developed countries of the world. The content of SOPC is much lower than those in the developing countries where this pesticide continues to be applied. ⋯ The absence of changes in the content of PCB in Kachug and Baikalsk may be associated with no decrease in environmental pollution in the Irkutsk Region. Altered breast concentrations of SOCPs caused a reduction in their intake in babies.

Comparative Study[The sanitary and hygienic state of solid garbage burial grounds in the stages of a life cycle].
The purpose of the study was to assess the sanitary-and-hygienic state of solid garbage (SG) burial grounds in the Perm Territory in different stage of a life cycle. This paper presents the results of the study of deposited waste, forming dump soil, and SG ground emissions by general sanitary and sanitary-microbiological parameters and their effect on environmental objects. The performed studies of the sanitary-and-hygienic situation on some grounds of the Perm Territory suggest that there is a need for setting up a system for sanitary-and-monitoring of SG ground and for elaborating engineering, organizational, and prophylactic measures to assure the sanitary-and-hygienic safety of objects and to control the quality and quantity of waste to be buried and the currents of emissions (ground body degassing, filtrating sewage drainage and purification).

Comparative Study[Significance of underground waters for population water supply of oil- producing regions in the Republic of Tatarstan].
The paper provides the hygienic characteristics of the underground waters used for water supply of the population of oil-producing regions in the Republic of Tatarstan (RT). The most common indicators of poor-quality drinking water of centralized water-supply systems from underground sources are shown to be its high mineralization, hardness, and higher than normal hygiene levels of chlorides, sulfates, and iron. ⋯ Considerable development-and-survey work is under way to detect and approve underground water reserves; underground reserves of fresh water have been today industrially introduced for the water supply of the towns of Zainsk, Bugulma, Nurlat, and the industrial community of Urussu. More than 400 springs and sources have been constructed, by meeting all the sanitary-and-hygienic requirements.

Comparative Study[Risk factors for reproductive dysfunction under the influence of a territorial industrial complex].
Ambient air and soil were studied; reproductive-age women were examined. The influence of the Balkhash mining-and-metallurgic plant as a risk factor for reproductive dysfunction was evaluated. ⋯ Cytogenetic analysis revealed the increased rate of chromosomal aberrations of mainly those of chromosomal type (71.5%) infertileage women. Analysis of the spectrum of congenital malformations confirms the occurrence of induced mutagenesis in the population.
