ReviewScoping Review of the Literature on Smart Healthcare for Older Adults.
Smart healthcare systems are being designed to provide medical services to and improve the daily lives of older adults. However, most research has been focused on technical issues, despite a need to conduct in-depth studies on related ethical issues. Therefore, this study aimed to examine ethical issues in smart healthcare for older adults. ⋯ The digital divide is a challenge because of low responsiveness from older adults to technological changes. The future development and application of smart healthcare systems must take these ethical aspects into account to enable their efficient and effective use in supplementing healthcare for older adults. Critical discussions to identify ethical issues and customize ethical requirements for specific user needs are necessary among smart healthcare providers.

Randomized Controlled TrialAntioxidant-Rich Dietary Intervention Improves Cardiometabolic Profiles and Arterial Stiffness in Elderly Koreans with Metabolic Syndrome.
Oxidative stress plays an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic metabolic diseases. This study investigated the effect of the antioxidant-rich dietary intervention on oxidative stress, metabolic parameters, and arterial stiffness in elderly Koreans with metabolic syndrome (MetS). ⋯ Antioxidant-rich dietary intervention for a 4-week period ameliorated the state of oxidative stress and improved the components of MetS including central obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and arterial stiffness in elderly Koreans with MetS.

Radiological Changes in Adjacent and Index Levels after Cervical Disc Arthroplasty.
The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate radiological and clinical outcomes in patients undergoing cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA) for cervical degenerative disc disease. The results may assist in surgical decision-making and enable more effective and safer implementation of cervical arthroplasty. ⋯ CDA is an effective surgical technique for optimizing clinical outcomes and radiological results. In particular, the preservation of cervical ROM with an artificial prosthesis at adjacent and index levels and improvement in cervical global alignment could reduce revision rates due to adjacent segment degeneration.

Real-Time Exercise Feedback through a Convolutional Neural Network: A Machine Learning-Based Motion-Detecting Mobile Exercise Coaching Application.
Mobile applications are widely used in the healthcare market. This study aimed to determine whether exercise using a machine learning-based motion-detecting mobile exercise coaching application (MDMECA) is superior to video streaming-based exercise for improving quality of life and decreasing lower back pain. ⋯ The MDMECA is more effective than video streaming-based exercise in increasing exercise adherence, improving QoL, and reducing lower back pain. MDMECAs could be promising tools of use to achieve better medical outcomes and higher treatment satisfaction.

Digital Dermatopathology and Its Application to Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
Digital pathology is being gradually adopted in hospitals due to technological advances. We propose that digital pathology can be used in Mohs micrographic surgery (Mohs surgery) to precisely check residual tumor cells in frozen tumor margin tissues. This would aid surgeons and pathologists in accurately recording tumor margins and give patients the benefit of shorter operation time.
