[Primary and Secondary Prevention of Hip Fragility Fracture in Teruel Health Sector, Aragon, Spain].
Osteoporosis should be prevented, diagnosed and treated, preferably before the fragility fracture occurs. The objective was to analyze primary and secondary interventions carried out in individuals diagnosed with femur fragility fracture at Teruel in 2014. ⋯ Primary pharmacologic prevention and assessment of osteoporosis or risk of fracture are unfrequent in our health district.. Although pharmacologic treatment is prescribed more frequently in Teruel than in other areas after a hip or vertebral fracture, additional measures should be taken in order to improve fragility fracture prevention.

The impact on health of alcohol in a given society is mainly related with the volume and pattern of drinking, and these are related with individual factors, but also with environmental factors, among which public policies are important determinants. Public policies may favour or reduce alcohol use, and thus have a substantial preventive capacity. ⋯ The regulation of alcohol promotion and publicity is also assessed, as well as the detection and treatment of alcohol abuse and dependence. The state of alcohol related policies in Spain is analysed, as well as the obstacles, for the adoption of policies more prone to prevention, and recommendations for the future are made.

[Case-Mix of hospital emergencies in the Andalusian Health Service based on the 2012 Minimum Data Set. Spain].
The implementation of digital health records in emergency departments (ED) in hospitals in the Andalusian Health Service and the development of an automatic encoder for this area have allowed us to establish a Minimum Data Set for Emergencies (MDS-ED). The aim of this article is to describe the case mix of hospital EDs using various dimensions contained in the MDS-ED. ⋯ The MDS-ED makes it possible to address systematically the analysis of hospital emergencies by identifying the activity developed, the case-mix attended, the response times, the time spent in ED and the quality of the care.

Observational Study[Cost and mortality associated to the surgical delay of patients with a hip fracture. Spain].
Hip fractures surgery is often delayed for several days. The present work has two objectives. The first one is to determine the preoperative hospital length of stay of patients with a hip fracture in our region and its possible correlation with an increase in mortality rate. Secondly we assessed the healthcare expenditure associated to this preoperative period. ⋯ Preoperative hospital stay in patients with hip fracture is still challenging. We could not find an association between the delays in surgical procedures and hospital mortality, although it seems to be associated with an increased the total procedure cost. These results can serve as a foundation for setting up strategies to decrease the length of hospital stay, not only for cost-saving purposes.
