The so-called HELLP-syndrome, a special form of severe preeclampsia, is characterized by (H-) hemolysis, (EL-) elevated liver enzymes and (LP-) low platelet count. The data of three HELLP-cases are shown, the development and outcome of the pathologic laboratory parameters are presented. After a several months control it was evident that after delivery the initial improvement of all laboratory findings proceeds and lasts. A special medical treatment is not necessary.

Because of a good prenatal care eclampsia has been very seldom. But it is still a severe disease. By means of a case report vital symptoms and possible etiologic mechanisms are discussed. The meaning of an interdisciplinary intensive care and a subtle monitoring has been emphasized.
