[Protocol - indications for transfusion in newborns with low and extremely low birght weight].
Hyporegenerative anaemia of prematurity is the cause of frequent transfusions of packed red blood cells. Wellknown is the effect of inhibiting the erythropoiesis after blood transfusions as well as the risk of transmissive infections. Therefore the main purpose of this study was to work out a protocol - indications for blood transfusions in order to achieve maximal reduction in their incidence with premature babies during their stay in ICU. ⋯ The leading indications for RBC-transfusions are not only Hb, Ht, postnatal age, but also the clinical condition and oxygen requirements. Severely ill premature babies on mechanical ventilation with FiO2 > or = 50% require blood transfusion at higher Hb values/<120 g/l/regardless of postnatal age.

[The use of carboprost tromethamole for prevention and treatment of postpartal haemorrhage].
All around the world as well as in Bulgaria postpartal haemorrhage is a main reason of maternal death. The treatment of postpartal haemorrhage of which approximately 70% is caused by hypotony of the uterus is still a challenge for physician-obstetrician. ⋯ One year investigation which includes 82 patients with hypotony during vaginal delivery or cesarian section. Results showed that the use of Carboprost tromethamole (Prostin 15M) in treatment of hypotony leads to fast and extended contraction of the uterus as well as significantly decreases blood loss and the necessity of haemotrasfusion.

It is established slowly increasing frequency of EA for anesthetizing vaginal delivery. The frequency of EA in University hospital "Maichin dom" is relatively low in comparison with mentioned in literature values, which raises the question of finding ways to further promote and increase the application of EA.
