This is the clinical case of a primiparous eight month pregnant female, presenting with symptoms of pregnancy-induced acute haemolytic anaemia (haemolytic aneamia provoked by an immune mechanism, intra- and extra-erythrocyte defects, and HELLP syndrome were excluded). The anaemia progressed to become life-threatening for both the pregnant women and the foetus, which brought the following questions into consideration: diagnosis of anaemia during pregnancy; dosing of corticosteroid therapy; possibility of giving birth to a viable foetus and prognosis for next pregnancies. Owing to the inter-disciplinary efforts, the life and health of this pregnant woman were preserved, but the foetus was lost.

[Mode of conception, acompanying medical disorders and complications in the second half of pregnancy in women over the age of 35].
To assess the impact of maternal age on the mode of conception, the incidence of accompanying medical disorders and past surgical procedures (gynecological and non-gynecological) and the complications in the second half of pregnancy (preeclampsia, placenta praevia, placental abruption, preterm delivery) in women ≥ 35 years, followed prospectively. ⋯ In our study maternal age >≥ 5 years was related to significantly more frequent conception by ART history of accompanying medical disorders, past surgery (non-gynecological) and complications in the second half of pregnancy (preeclampsia, placenta praevia, placental abruption and preterm delivery).

To assess pregnancy outcome in women aged > or =35, followed prospectively, and the relation between maternal age and the incidence of abortions after 12 gw (spontaneous and medical), preterm delivery, mode of delivery and congenital anomalies. ⋯ Maternal age > or =35 years is associated with statistically significant increase in late medical abortions, preterm delivery and Cesarean section rate and congenital fetal anomalies.

Laparoscopic gynecologic procedures have become increasingly popular but their widespread use has been limited by training issues. Recent technological advancements have led to the introduction of new three-dimensional (3D) cameras in laparoscopic surgery. The use of 3-dimensional (3 D) vision may aid in training and performance of laparoscopic tasks. 3-D visualization improves the learning curve forlaparoscopic surgery. Surgeons must consider 3D systems when leaming complex laparoscopic surgeries.

[Identification of preterm labor: the role of fetal fibronectin in parents with symptoms].
To determine whether the presence of fetal fibronectin in vaginal secretions of patients with symptoms suggestive of preterm labor predicts preterm delivery. Fetal fibronectin, a large molecular weight glycoprotein produced in the chorion, is expressed in cervical and vaginal secretions in women with disruption of the choriodecidual junction by labor or by inflammation. ⋯ The presence of FFN in vaginal or cervical secretions before 35 weeks is a is a strong predictor that preterm delivery is unlikely within the next 7 to 14 days. The predictive power of FFN is stronger at earlier gestation ages (24-29 wks) than it is later in pregnancy and is stronger for short-term prediction (7-14 d).
