Temporomandibular disorders is a collective term covering a number of related disorders affecting the temporomandibular joints, masticatory muscles, and related structures. The study reviews the recent knowledge about the diagnosis and complex therapy of temporomandibular disorders on the basis of published scientific literature. ⋯ The non-invasive conservative therapeutic possibilities are described in detail and they are suggested in the initial phase of the treatment. The disorders, which usually need further consultations with other specialist, are also described.

This study reports on experience acquired during the care of patients who could not participate in surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy because of the extent of the primary, recurrent or metastatic tumour, or because of the deterioration of the general condition or (in the event of recurrence), intervention with a curative aim could not be performed for the mentioned reasons. In these cases, improvement or preservation of the quality of life is the fundamental goal to be achieved at all times, for these patients must receive the best possible supportive treatment for the remainder of their lives, Unfortunately, the quaranteeing of this often tends to become mainly a financial question rather than a professional one. The medical staff has very little chance to influence the financial aspects, and must therefore do everything possible to ensure the highest possible level of care during hospitalization. Attention is drawn to the significant roles to be played by the family, the family doctor, the various home-care services and the hospice.

[Fee flap from the fibula: microsurgical method for the substitution of mandibular loss].
The authors report on the microsurgery method of the vascularized free fibula flap transplantation for the reconstruction of large segmental mandibular defect. They have established from the literatury data and by their own experience of two cases, that the use of free fibula flap seems to be the best replacement method, when the bone defect is bigger then twelve centimeters.

This article reports the modification of laterosubmental tracheal intubation in single-step surgery of panfacial fractures or osteotomies. In the modified method--after the submental transversal midline skin incision--the tube is guided through a submental tunnel to the oral floor, just behind to caruncula sublingualis.

The newspaper "Ungar" edited in Pest, publishes a satirical drawing in 1847. This publication proves, that aether-narcosis--first employed in North-America autumn 1846--was known in spring 1847 already in Hungary too.
