Dextrocardia with situs inversus is a state which is characterized by abnormal positioning of the heart and other internal organs. It is a rare congenital anomaly and the exact cause is not known. More than 60 recognized genes are significant for the proper positioning and patterning of the organs in the body. ⋯ There are partial available case reports of successful percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in these patients who have atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, especially when presenting with myocardial infarction. PCI is technically difficult because of dextrocardia. We hereby describe a 51-year-old male, who had a recent inferior wall myocardial infarction and underwent successful coronary angiography and PCI at a tertiary level hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

At present Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is becoming one of the important global health problems. This study was done to evaluate the changes of percent saturation of oxygen in COPD patients in comparison to healthy person. This analytical type of cross sectional study was carried out in the Department of Physiology, Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh from July 2018 to June 2019. ⋯ The mean±SD of percent saturation of oxygen was significantly lower in study group in comparison with control group. Patients with COPD with greater changes in percent saturation of oxygen causes more frequent hospitalization and increased mortality and morbidity due to COPD related complications. So assessment of this parameter is important for prevention of complication related to COPD for leading a healthy life.

Effect of Intravenous Paracetamol with Bupivacaine Scalp Nerve Block on Haemodynamics Response as Well as Anaesthetic Requirements during Supratentorial Craniotomies.
Noxious stimuli during craniotomy may encourage hypertension and tachycardia, which may rise to morbidity in patients with intracranial hypertension. After craniotomy a moderate level of postoperative pain observed. The objective of this study was to observe the effect of intravenous paracetamol with bupivacaine scalp nerve block (SNB) on haemodynamics response as well as anaesthetic & analgesic requirements during supratentorial craniotomies. ⋯ The mean heart rate of Group B remained significantly lower than that of Group A. The mean intraoperative propofol as well as fentanyl requirements were significantly decreased in Group B in comparison to Group A. The combination of intravenous paracetamol with bupivacaine scalp nerve block provides better intra-operative haemodynamic stability and neurosurgical compliances for the patients undergoing supratentorial craniotomies under general anaesthesia.

Uropathogenic Escherichia coli is frequently resistant to different antibiotic leading to a critical condition of the patients. The purpose of the present study was to see antibiotic resistance pattern and genetic characteristics of ESBL and Carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli. This cross sectional study was conducted in the Department of Microbiology at Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh from October 2014 to December 2015. ⋯ Carbapenemase genes were detected in 9(3.9%) isolates of E. coli and identified as genes encoding NDM-1, -5, and 7 and OXA-181. All the blaNDM-positive E. coli isolates carried also blaCTX-M-15, except for a group B1 isolate. E. coli is significantly higher resistance rates to piperacillin, cephalosporins, and some other antimicrobials and possesses different ESBL and carbapenemase genes.

Among nurses due to inadequate pain management knowledge and practice skills, children's pain is often under treated. This study aimed to examine the level of knowledge and practice on pediatric pain management among nurses in Bangladesh. This was a descriptive survey study involving total 150 clinical pediatric nurses from two Medical College Hospital and a University hospital in Bangladesh. ⋯ The relationship between nurses' knowledge and practice was not significant. In addition, nurses' knowledge and practice with demographic variables; there was significant relationship between nurse's knowledge and existence of pain management protocol, nurses' practice and their current position in unit and with reading nursing journal. This study showed moderate level of knowledge and practice indicating that they need to be enhanced the knowledge and practice skills in pediatric pain management.
