Accumulating evidence indicates that the aberrant expression of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) is involved in tumorigenesis and cancer development. However, the biological functions and underlying mechanisms of lncRNAs in bladder cancer (BC) remain largely unknown. Here, we analyzed the lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles in BC using a microarray assay. ⋯ Mechanistically, we identified that RP11-79H23.3 could directly bind to miR-107 and abolish the suppressive effect on target gene PTEN, which leads to inactivation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. Taken together, we first demonstrated that RP11-79H23.3 might suppress the pathogenesis and development of BC by acting as a sponge for miR-107 to increase PTEN expression. Our research revealed that RP11-79H23.3 could be a potential target for diagnosis and therapy of BC.

Vital pulp therapy (VPT) is to preserve the nerve and maintain healthy dental pulp tissue. Laser irradiation (LI) is beneficial for VPT. Understanding how LI affects dental pulp cells and tissues is necessary to elucidate the mechanism of reparative dentin and dentin regeneration. ⋯ In terms of mineralization induction, the LIs were not significantly different, although their cell reactivity was likely different. Both LIs activated four MMPs in porcine dental pulp tissues. We helped elucidate how reparative dentin is formed during laser treatments.

Dual leucine zipper kinase (DLK) is a member of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase (MAP3K) family mainly involved in neuronal degeneration. However, the role of DLK signaling in the neuropathic pain has not yet been fully determined. Chronic constrictive injury (CCI) was conducted by four 3-0 chromic gut ligatures loosely ligated around the sciatic nerve. ⋯ In CatWalk gait analysis, significant decreases of print area, maximum contact maximum intensity, stand phase, single stance, and regular index by CCI were alleviated by the DLK shRNA administration. In conclusion, the expression of DLK was up-regulated in chronic constrictive injury and attenuated by the administration of DLK shRNA, which paralleled the improvement of neurobehavior of neuropathic pain. The modulation of DLK expression is a potential clinic treatment option for neuropathic pain.

Gastrointestinal problems have been documented in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Studies have found that these disturbances may be associated with an altered gut microbiome in ASD. ⋯ We will also explore the potential for treatment of ASD by targeting the microbiome with probiotics. Finally, this paper will attempt to provide significance to the aggregation of the research in this area of research; providing our interpretations and assessments of future of this field.
