Repigmentation has been observed under the influence of topically administered Efudix cream in 3 patients with vitiligo of symmetrical acral type. No response has been received in 2 patients with segmental vitiligo treated in the same way. ⋯ Histologic and electron microscopic characterization of recolonized melanocytes is described. The significance of topical 5-fluorouracil treatment in vitiligo is discussed.

3 patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) who developed severe widespread bullous pemphigoid (BP) are presented. MS preceded the presentation of BP by 13-23 years (mean 18 years). ⋯ Several abnormalities of the immune system have been reported in both diseases. It is interesting to speculate that amidst existing immunologic abnormalities in all 3 patients with MS, a specific event, immunologic or viral or both may have triggered the development of BP.

Using carbon dioxide laser, the authors proved the existence of a new type of wart, localized under the heel. Its considerable extension between the dermis and epidermis, far from the visible excrescence, may explain the absence of positive response to classical treatment in some cases.

The behaviour of Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis has been studied in the skin of 2 patients with hyperkeratotic scabies. After examination under the scanning electron microscope, the skin specimens can be reprocessed for light microscopic examination. Original aspects and the dynamics of the burrowing parasite are presented, namely its penetration into the epidermis, the elimination of digestive residues and the maturation of the parasite's eggs.
