Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialHalothane requirement--a comparison between laryngeal mask airway insertion and endotracheal tube intubation in pediatric patients.
The present study was to determine the effective concentration of halothane for insertion of laryngeal mask airway (LMA) and for intubation of endotracheal tube (ETT) in pediatric patients. ⋯ The insertion of LMA could be performed at a significantly less halothane concentration in comparison with ETT intubation in children.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical TrialComparison of hemodynamics and recovery of sevoflurane and isoflurane anesthesia in Chinese adult patients.
The new inhalational anesthetic sevoflurane would be expected to provide a rapid emergence from anesthesia due to its low blood/gas partition coefficient. In this study, we compared the hemodynamic effects, speed and quality of emergence, in ASA class I-II Chinese adult surgical patients receiving either sevoflurane or isoflurane anesthesia. ⋯ Compared with isoflurane, sevoflurane anesthesia had the clinical advantages of maintaining stable hemodynamics and rapid recovery in Chinese adult patients.

Case ReportsSuspected malignant hyperthermia during isoflurane anesthesia--a case report.
We present a patient with thyroid cancer, who developed respiratory acidosis, tachycardia and hyperthermia during isoflurane anesthesia. Malignant hyperthermia was suspected on the basis of clinical manifestation and laboratory finding. With early diagnosis and treatment the patient survived the episode.
