[Incidence rates of HIV-1 epidemics among 4 high risk groups in Sichuan province during 2011-2015].
Objective: Data from the HIV/AIDS surveillance sentinel sites was used to identify the recent HIV-1 infections and to estimate the HIV-1 incidence and epidemic trends among intravenous drug users (IDU), MSM, female sex workers and men attending the sexually transmitted disease clinics in Sichuan province. Methods: Specimens collected from IDUs, MSM, female sex workers and men attending the sexually transmitted disease clinics sentinel sites were confirmed as HIV-1 positive and tested with BED-CEIA. Annual HIV-1 prevalence and incidence rates were calculated and the incidence was adjusted by McNermar method. ⋯ Significant differences were seen in the HIV-1 incidence rates. Conclusions: The HIV-1 incidence rates of IDUs from other sentinel sites in Sichuan province, female sex workers and men attending the sexually transmitted disease clinics appeared low, showing that the AIDS prevention and control activities worked effectively. However, the HIV-1 incidence of MSM was still at high level and even rising, suggesting that HIV-1 transmission between MSM and IDUs was possible.

[Cost-effectiveness of multiple screening modalities on breast cancer in Chinese women from Shanghai].
Objective: To determine the most cost-effective modality for breast cancer screening in women living in Shanghai. Methods: A Markov model for breast cancer was redeveloped based on true effect which was derived from a project for detection of women at high risk of breast cancer and an organized breast cancer screening program conducted simultaneously in Minhang district, Shanghai, during 2008 to 2012. Parameters of the model were derived from literatures. ⋯ The costs appeared as 182 526 Yuan RMB per life year gained and 144 386 Yuan RMB per quality adjusted life-year (QALY) saved, which were within the threshold of 2-3 times of local per capita Gross Domestic Product. Results from sensitivity analysis showed that, due to higher incidence rate of breast cancer in Shanghai, the cost per QALY would be 64 836 Yuan RMB lower in Shanghai than the average level in China. Conclusion: Our research findings showed that the biennial CBE program followed by ultrasonic and mammography for those with positive CBE results might serve as the optimal breast cancer screening modality for Chinese women living in Shanghai, and thus be widely promoted in this population elsewhere.

Review[The effects of closure to live poultry markets on Avian influenza A (H7N9) epidemics in China].
Since March 2013, China had experienced five seasonal epidemics related to Avian influenza A (H7N9). An unprecedented outbreak of H7N9 epidemic started from September 2016, with 730 cases reported till June 30(th) 2017, in mainland China that caused profound influences on both social development and health of the people. As an emerging infectious disease, information on pathogenic characteristics, transmission patterns and other epidemiological features of H7N9 virus somehow remained unclear. ⋯ Hence, closure of LPMs was suggested a major measure to control and prevent H7N9 epidemics in China. However, the effectiveness of different ways of LPM closures on H7N9 epidemics had been controversial. This study systemically summarized the effects of different ways of LPM closures on H7N epidemics from previous studies, aiming to provide references for developing a better program on H7N9 control and prevention in the country.

Meta Analysis[Cost-effectiveness of community-based treatment of chronic hepatitis B in China].
Objective: Since eliminating hepatitis B in China would need considerable public health resources, the economics problem of the strategy of community-based antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) has become an important issue. The cost-effectiveness and affordability of the strategy were evaluated in this study. Methods: According to the advocacy on eliminating hepatitis B by WHO and the comprehensive protocol of community based prevention of major infectious diseases and the guideline for CHB prevention and treatment in China, the decision analytic Markov model was constructed with the parameters from national surveys or Meta-analysis. ⋯ The results of affordability analysis indicated that the antiviral treatment strategy could not be implemented with the budget lower than 30 million yuan (RMB), the probability of implementing the strategy was 42.6% if the budget reaches 127 million yuan (RMB), and only when the budget reaches 269 million yuan (RMB), the goal of CHB antiviral treatment strategy can be fully realized. Conclusions: Although the strategy of CHB antiviral treatment as prevention in Chinese aged 20-59 years is cost-effective, it is not an appropriate public health measure due to the high cost. The cost effectiveness would be higher by conducting hepatitis B vaccination and then antiviral treatment in susceptible population.

[Survey of economic burden of hepatitis B-related diseases in 12 areas in China].
Objective: Less surveys on the economic burden of hepatitis B (HB)-related diseases have been conducted in China, so the socioeconomic harm caused by the diseases is not clear and the key parameters for economic evaluation of hepatitis B prevention and treatment are lacking. This study aimed to analyze the direct, indirect and intangible expenditures of hospitalized patients with HB-related diseases during hospitalization and during a year in different areas of China. Methods: The hospitals for infectious diseases and the large general hospitals in 12 areas in China were selected in the study. ⋯ Conclusions: A heavy economic burden has been caused by HB-related diseases in China, and patients are more likely to rely on medical service rather than non-medical service. It is necessary to take effective treatment measures to prevent the adverse outcome of HB related diseases and achieve significant economic benefits. The influence of HB related diseases on mental health of the people can be reflected by an economics term, intangible expenditure.
