[The influence of partial dorsal root rhizotomy on IGF-I expression in spared root ganglion and spinal cord].
To explore the temporospatial changes of IGF-I expression in the spared dorsal root ganglia (DRG, L6) on the operated side and un-operated side, in the spinal lamina II (L3, L5, L6) and Clarke's nucleus (L3) of the adult cats that have undergone partial dorsal rhizotomy, and compare them against those of the normal adult cats so as to unveil the relation between IGF-I and the plasticity of spinal cord. ⋯ Partial dorsal root rhizotomy can lead to the change of IGF-I expression in bilateral DRG and Clarke's nucleus, which suggests that IGF-I be related with spinal cord plasticity.

[Transesophageal arterial oxygen saturation monitoring: an experimental study].
To assess the sensitivity and accuracy of a novel transesophageal approach to monitoring the descending aortic oximetry (SeO2). ⋯ This study showed that SeO2 monitoring is sensitive. It could accurately reflect the arterial oxygen saturation not only in normal condition but also during hypoxia and the re-ventilation with 100% oxygen. SeO2 responds faster and is closer to SaO2, compared with SmO2 measurements. This may be an alternative method in the cases where the monitoring of peripheral SpO2 is difficult.

[The changes of NT-4 expression in spared root ganglion and spinal cord following partial dorsal root rhizotomy].
This study was conducted to detect the expression levels of NT-4 in the spared dorsal root ganglia (DRG, L6) on the operated side and un-operated side, in the spinal lamina II (L3, L5, L6) and Clarke's nucleus (L3) of the normal adult cats and the cats submitted to partial dorsal rhizotomy. The aim was to illuminate the temporospatial changes of NT-4 expression and its possible relation to spinal cord plasticity. ⋯ Our results suggest that partial dorsal root rhizotomy can mainly lead to the change of NT-4 expression in the spared root ganglion, and NT-4 in the unoperated side DRG are involved in spinal cord plasticity.
