Comparative StudyAn Internet-based cognitive-behavioral preventive intervention for complicated grief: a pilot study.
Bereaved parents and individuals bereaved by the sudden, unexpected, or violent death of a loved one are at high risk for developing complicated grief. However, preventive interventions for this at-risk population remain scarce. In the present pilot study, an Internet-based intervention for individuals bereaved in the previous 14 months was tested using a pretest/posttest design. ⋯ Counselor and participants communicated exclusively via email. The intervention consisted of the following modules: (1) describing the circumstances of the death, (2) using the life-imprint method to explore the biography and life imprint of the deceased, (3) keeping a daily diary of social activities and sleep hygiene, (4) cognitive restructuring of dysfunctional thoughts, such as responsibility for the death and feelings of guilt, (5) communication within the family, (6) gender-specific coping with bereavement, and (7) bond with the deceased. Completer and intent-to-treat analyses suggest that the intervention led to a significant reduction in symptoms of complicated grief and depression at posttreatment.

Clinical Trial[Effectiveness of a rehabilitation and occupational behavioral cognitive group intervention for chronic low back pain with low disability. Prospective study with a 6-month follow-up].
Literature suggests a bio-psychosocial approach to chronic low back pain, heralding disability. A multidisciplinary combination of motor, occupational and cognitive behavioural therapies constitutes a rehabilitative approach provided with growing evidence in the clinic field of spinal chronic pain. ⋯ The trial showed evidence in favour of a combined motor, occupational and cognitive-behavioural approach, carried out in group, for low disability chronic low back pain. Considering methodological biases of the study, we recommend confirmation of these results through randomized controlled trial.

[A "I would like to give him my life": results of a psychological support intervention to caregivers of patients undergoing neuromotor rehabilitation].
A large proportion of patients hospitalised for severe neuromotor disorders are supported during the in-hospital rehabilitation program by family members. To target interventions of psychological support for these caregivers it can be of help to identify the causes of caregiver burden or specific needs. Anxiety and depression are common in caregivers and constitute, together with emotional distress caused by loneliness and reduced social activities, an important part of the caregiving burden. ⋯ High depression scores were also found in caregivers of patients with high residual cognitive disability (p < 0.05). This psychometric evaluation makes it possible to tailor the psychological support offered to the needs of each individual caregiver both during rehabilitation and in relation to eventual future developments. A multidisciplinary team approach to the caregiver can thus lead to a general reduction of caregiver strain.

For this case it has been documented a possible source of occupational exposure to asbestos caused by the presence of asbestos components in the professional espressos coffee machines. In some gaskets which are part of these coffee machines, we verified the presence of chrysotile fibers. Italian National Mesothelioma Register have reported a MM case with a professional origin arised in a barman with a certain diagnosis in 1999 (Tuscany Region).
