Identifying influence of perceived quality and satisfaction on the utilization status of the community clinic services; Bangladesh context.
Bangladesh is one among the few countries of the world that provides free medical services at the community level through various public health facilities. It is now evident that, clients' perceived quality of services and their expectations of service standards affect health service utilization to a great extent. The aim of the study was to develop and validate the measures for perception and satisfaction of primary health care quality in Bangladesh context and to identify their aspects on the utilization status of the Community Clinic (CC) services. ⋯ Besides parental education and income, client's perception and satisfaction played significant role in CC service utilization. Provider's perception of service quality should be studied. The study findings will enable policy-makers .to improve quality of primary health care services, realizing providers' and patients' ideas of CC service quality.

Physicians knowledge and attitude of opioid availability, accessibility and use in pain management in Bangladesh.
This survey was conducted on 1000 physicians with pain management responsibilities practicing in 47 districts in Bangladesh. The response rate was 58.3%. The physicians had a mean of 21 years in practice. ⋯ Oncology physicians displayed significantly higher knowledge scores. The results demonstrated physicians' poor knowledge, attitude and perceived barriers regarding opioids. Effective education strategies need to be addressed using the study result.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialComparison of transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasonography in the diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy.
This cross sectional study was carried out in the department of Radiology and Imaging, Dhaka Medical College Hospital from July 2008 to June 2010 to compare the accuracy of transvaginal ultrasonography and transabdominal ultrasonography in the diagnosis of clinically suspected cases of ectopic pregnancy. Initially 60 patients with clinical suspicion of ectopic pregnancy were included in this study after analyzing selection criteria 30 patients underwent both transvaginal and transabdominal ultrasonography. 'Histopathological diagnosis' was considered gold standard against which accuracies of two diagnostic modalities were compared. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of transabdominal ultrasonography as a diagnostic modality in evaluation of suspected ectopic pregnancy were 73.1%, 75%, 95%, 30% and 73.3% respectively where as transvaginal ultrasonography was found to have 92.3% sensitivity, 75% specificity, 96% positive predictive value, 60% negative predictive value and 90% accuracy. Transvaginal ultrasonography was superior to transabdominal ultrasonography in the evaluation of suspected ectopic pregnancies so, transvaginal ultrasonography is important for early and accurate diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy.

Correlation between intracerebral hemorrhage score and surgical outcome of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage.
Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) comprises 10-15% of all strokes and has a higher risk of morbidity and mortality (40-45%). A simple and widely valid clinical grading scale, the Intracerebral Hemorrhage Score (ICH score) was developed to predict to outcome of spontaneous ICH. The aim of the present study was to assess the relation between the ICH score and the surgical outcome of ICH by Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) at the 30th post ictus day in our perspective. ⋯ Value of r was found to be -0.635 which was statistically highly significant (p = .001) and the relation was found to be negative. Higher ICH score had unfavorable outcome As correlation between the ICH score and the surgical outcome of ICH was found statistically highly significant, it can be used widely as a grading scale in preoperative counseling. The use of ICH score could improve standardization of clinical treatment protocols and clinical research studies in ICH.
