Apgar score and neonatal mortality in a hospital located in the southern area of São Paulo City, Brazil.
To correlate the Apgar score, and neonatal mortality and its causes at a hospital located in the southern area of São Paulo City. ⋯ The Apgar score proved linked to factors both epidemiological and related to attention given to the birth and neonatal mortality, and was associated with extremely low birth weight.

Clostridium difficile is the main cause of nosocomial diarrhea. Diarrhea associated with C. difficile has increased incidence, morbidity, and mortality in the last few years. ⋯ Therefore, interventions to improve antibiotic prescribing, as well as compliance with infection control measures can reduce hospital-acquired C. difficile infections. This review addresses the epidemiological changes in C. difficile disease and its treatment.

The epidemiological profile of Pediatric Intensive Care Center at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein.
This study outlined the epidemiological profiles of patients who were admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Center at Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital during 2009. ⋯ Respiratory diseases were the most common ailment among patients admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Center, and the highest mortality rates were associated with neoplastic diseases.
