Reduced frequency of cardiopulmonary arrests by rapid response teams.
To evaluate the impact of the implementation of a rapid response team on the rate of cardiorespiratory arrests in mortality associated with cardiorespiratory arrests and on in-hospital mortality in a high complexity general hospital. ⋯ The implementation of the rapid response team may have caused a significant reduction in the number of cardiorespiratory arrests. It was estimated that during the period from March 2007 to September 2008, the intervention probably saved 67 lives.

Comparative Study Observational StudyQuality of life and prevalence of osteoarticular pain in patients submitted to bariatric surgery.
To analyze quality of life and observe the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain in patients submitted to bariatric surgery. ⋯ Morbidly obese individuals have a high probability of suffering from clinical, psychic, and musculoskeletal alterations, compromising their quality of life and showing improvement after bariatric surgery; on the other hand, the psycho-emotional manifestations did not progress in the same way.

Dementia Rating Scale psychometric study and its applicability in long term care institutions in Brazil.
To evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and agreement of the Dementia Rating Scale with clinical diagnosis of cognitive impairment and to compare its psychometric measures with those from Mini Mental State Examination. ⋯ Dementia Rating Scale showed a high sensitivity to detect cognitive impairment in this population, and it could be a useful tool in these settings.

Apgar score and neonatal mortality in a hospital located in the southern area of São Paulo City, Brazil.
To correlate the Apgar score, and neonatal mortality and its causes at a hospital located in the southern area of São Paulo City. ⋯ The Apgar score proved linked to factors both epidemiological and related to attention given to the birth and neonatal mortality, and was associated with extremely low birth weight.
