What Impact Does Venous Thromboembolism and Bleeding Have on Cancer Patients' Quality of Life?
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is common in cancer patients and its treatment is associated with a high risk of recurrent VTE (rVTE) and bleeding. ⋯ This data set study has quantified the decline in EQ-5D scores associated with experiencing rVTE or bleeding events in cancer patients. These results indicate the net gain in quality of life and impact on cost-effectiveness of secondary VTE prevention.

Less Is More: Cross-Validation Testing of Simplified Nonlinear Regression Model Specifications for EQ-5D-5L Health State Values.
The conventional method for modeling of the five-level EuroQol five-dimensional questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L) health state values in national valuation studies is an additive 20-parameter main-effects regression model. Statistical models with many parameters are at increased risk of overfitting-fitting to noise and measurement error, rather than the underlying relationship. ⋯ Simplified nonlinear regression models look promising and should be investigated further using other EQ-5D-5L data sets. To reduce the risk of overfitting, cross-validation is recommended to inform model selection in future EQ-5D valuation studies.

Cost-Effectiveness of a Collaborative Care Depression and Anxiety Treatment Program in Patients with Acute Cardiac Illness.
To use data from a randomized trial to determine the cost-effectiveness of a collaborative care (CC) depression and anxiety treatment program and to assess effects of the CC program on health care utilization. ⋯ This CC intervention was associated with clinically relevant improvements, was cost-effective, and was associated with fewer emergency department visits in the 24 weeks after discharge.

Reliability and Validity of the Work Instability Scale for Rheumatoid Arthritis.
The objective was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Rheumatoid Arthritis-Work Instability Scale (RA-WIS) in a clinical trial setting. ⋯ These findings provide evidence supporting the reliability, validity, and responsiveness of the RA-WIS for evaluating work disability in patients with RA in a clinical trial setting.

Cost-Effectiveness of a Nonpharmacological Intervention in Pediatric Burn Care.
To report the cost-effectiveness of a tailored handheld computerized procedural preparation and distraction intervention (Ditto) used during pediatric burn wound care in comparison to standard practice. ⋯ This economic evaluation showed the Ditto intervention to be highly cost-effective against standard practice at a minimal cost for the significant benefits gained, supporting the implementation of the Ditto intervention during burn wound care.
