Case ReportsThe ultimate proof of paradoxical embolism and a percutaneous solution.
Central venous catheters (CVCs) and ports are frequently used for the administration of total parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, and chemotherapeutic agents. Their use may be associated with serious complications, such as venous thrombosis, embolization, and catheter rupture. ⋯ We report the first case of a CVC that embolized across a patent foramen ovale (PFO) into the left atrium in a 72-year-old female who presented with symptoms of a transient ischemic attack (TIA). Treatment consisted of retrieving the embolized portacath, which had lodged in the right upper pulmonary vein followed by percutaneous PFO closure.

Interventional cardiac catheterization procedures in pediatric cardiac transplant patients: transplant surgery is not the end of the road.
The objectives of this study are to report the spectrum of cardiac lesions in pediatric patients post-orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT), the characteristics of patients who develop these lesions, and the feasibility of transcatheter intervention in treating these lesions. ⋯ Anastomotic aortic arch and venous obstructive lesions should be sought following pediatric OHT as they occur in almost 20% of patients and can be successfully addressed using interventional techniques.

Case ReportsImpact of intravascular ultrasound for the treatment of calcified infrarenal aortic stenosis: a case report study.
We report two cases of heavily calcified infrarenal aortic stenosis that were successfully treated by intravascular ultrasound- (IVUS)-guided stenting. Two middle-aged women visited our hospital due to intermittent claudication. ⋯ The patients successfully underwent stent implantation according to the findings of IVUS. IVUS significantly contributed to the interventional successes.
