Case ReportsCatheter directed lysis and thrombectomy of submassive pulmonary embolism.
Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is a common and potentially highly morbid disease. However, there are a broad range of clinical presentations, varying from asymptomatic to life-threatening hemodynamic compromise. Accordingly, the aggressiveness of treatment for acute PE must be adjusted to the acuity of the presentation and patient-specific comorbidities. ⋯ We present the case of an 83-year-old man with acute high-risk PE and worsening hemodynamic and respiratory status who was treated with catheter-directed thrombolysis and rheolytic thrombectomy. There was significant improvement in thrombus burden, symptoms, and hemodynamic parameters including right ventricular function and pulmonary artery pressures. However, his course was complicated by intracranial hemorrhage and access site hematoma, demonstrating that even reduced doses and local delivery of thrombolytics do not ensure freedom from bleeding complications.

Transcatheter interventions in the early postoperative period after the Fontan procedure.
To analyze the safety and clinical impact of interventional cardiac catheter procedures in the management of early postoperative problems after completion of an extracardiac Fontan procedure. ⋯ Interventional cardiac catheter procedures can be performed safely and effectively in the early postoperative period after Fontan completion to address hemodynamic problems. These techniques contribute significantly to achieve a very low mortality and address morbidity after Fontan completion.

Case ReportsTranscatheter closure of a patent ductus arteriosus in a preterm infant with an Amplatzer Vascular Plug IV device.
Rapid advances in paediatric interventional cardiology allow transcatheter closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in increasingly smaller patients. We describe a successful transcatheter closure of a large tubular PDA in a symptomatic preterm infant of 2,210 g using an Amplatzer Vascular Plug IV device.

Case ReportsEntrapment of an arterial pressure catheter by a previously deployed Starclose device.
Herein is a case report description of entrapment of an arterial pressure line by a previously deployed Starclose device. This device is widely used to control femoral artery puncture site following diagnostic catheterization.
