Observational StudyRevascularization heart team recommendations as an adjunct to appropriate use criteria for coronary revascularization in patients with complex coronary artery disease.
To evaluate how a comprehensive evidence-based clinical review by a multidisciplinary revascularization heart team on treatment decisions for revascularization in patients with complex coronary artery disease using SYNTAX scores combined with Society of Thoracic Surgeons-derived clinical variables can be additive to the utilization of Appropriate Use Criteria for coronary revascularization. ⋯ A formal, multidisciplinary revascularization heart team can provide proper validation for clinical decisions and should be considered in combination with the Appropriate Use Criteria for coronary revascularization to formulate revascularization strategies for individuals in a patient-centered fashion. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Meta AnalysisComplete Versus Culprit-Only Revascularization for Patients With Multi-Vessel Disease Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: An Updated Meta-Analysis of Randomized Trials.
To perform an updated meta-analysis to determine whether complete revascularization of significant coronary lesions at the time of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) would be associated with better outcomes compared with culprit-only revascularization. ⋯ Complete revascularization of all significant coronary lesions at the time of primary PCI was associated with a reduction in the risk of MACE due to reduction in the risk of urgent revascularization. This approach appears to be safe, with no excess major bleeding, or contrast-induced nephropathy. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study Observational StudyTreatment of drug-eluting stent restenosis: Comparison between drug-eluting balloon versus second-generation drug-eluting stents from a retrospective observational study.
To compare drug-eluting balloons (DEBs) versus second-generation DES in the treatment of drug-eluting stent restenosis (DES-ISR). ⋯ There were no significant differences in the clinical outcomes between DEB and second-generation DES in the treatment of DES-ISR. These results should encourage operators to consider DEB in the treatment of DES-ISR, which offers certain advantages over DES. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Observational StudyImpact of Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa Inhibitors Use on Outcomes After Lower Extremity Endovascular Interventions From Nationwide Inpatient Sample (2006-2011).
The aim of our study was to study the impact of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors (GPI) on in-hospital outcomes. ⋯ Multivariate analysis revealed GPI use in peripheral endovascular interventions to be suggestive of an increase in composite end-point of in-hospital mortality and postprocedural complications, no impact on in-hospital mortality alone, significantly lower rate of amputation, and increase in hospitalization costs. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Case ReportsTranscatheter aortic valve replacement for native aortic valve regurgitation as a bridge to liver transplantation.
Coexistence of end-stage liver disease (ESLD) and severe valvular heart disease conveyed substantial risk for patients, oftentimes leading to exclusion from liver transplantation candidacy due to inability to safely offer cardiac surgery prior to transplantation. Several approaches have been described, including performing transplantation and valve surgery concurrently, or in sequence. ⋯ A novel approach to this surgical dilemma by performing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for severe native aortic valve regurgitation in a patient on the liver transplant list has been presented. The procedure proved to be an effective management for the aortic valve insufficiency, improving our patient's hemodynamics in preparation for the subsequent orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
