Outcomes following cardiac catheterization after congenital heart surgery.
Describe outcomes following unplanned cardiac catheterization after congenital heart surgery. ⋯ Cardiac catheterization following congenital heart surgery may enable important diagnostic and therapeutic changes in clinical and surgical management. Complications were rare.

Multicenter StudyPercutaneous mitral valve repair with the MitraClip system according to the predicted risk by the logistic EuroSCORE: preliminary results from the German Transcatheter Mitral Valve Interventions (TRAMI) Registry.
To evaluate in-hospital and short-term outcomes of percutaneous mitral valve repair according to patients' logistic EuroSCORE (logEuroSCORE) in a multicenter registry ⋯ Of all patients, 557 (55.6%) had a logEuroSCORE ≥ 20. Implantation of the MitraClip was successful in 95.5 % (942/986) patients. Moderate residual mitral valve regurgitation was more often detected in patients with a logEuroSCORE ≥ 20 (23.8% vs. 17.1%, respectively, P < 0.05). In patients with a logEuroSCORE ≥ 20 the procedural complication rate was 8.9% (vs. 6.4, n.s.) and the in-hospital MACCE rate 4.9% (vs. 1.4% P < 0.01). The in-hospital mortality rate in patients with a logEuroSCORE ≥ 20 and logEuroSCORE < 20 was 4.3 and 1.1%, respectively (P ≤ 0.01) CONCLUSION: Percutaneous mitral valve repair with the MitraClip system is feasible in patients with a logEuroSCORE ≥ 20 with similar procedural results compared to patients with lower predicted risk. Although mortality was four times higher than in patients with logEuroSCORE < 20, mortality in high risk patients was lower than predicted. In those with a logEuroSCORE ≥ 20, moderate residual mitral valve regurgitation was more frequent.

Comparative StudyThe predictors of successful percutaneous coronary intervention in ostial left anterior descending artery chronic total occlusion.
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to chronic total occlusion (CTO) has become one of the treatment strategies in recent era. The ostium of the left anterior descending artery (LAD) is one of the most difficult positions for CTO revascularization. Until now, limited data has been made available for the prediction of successful ostial LAD CTO PCI. ⋯ Ostial LAD CTO resulted in higher lesion complexity in J-CTO scores and Syntax Scores. Ostial LAD CTO PCI had a slightly lower final success rate than that of all other CTOs PCI with longer procedure duration, fluoroscopic time and larger contrast volume. Without antegrade failure, with retrograde success, and lower Syntax Score were found to predict the success of ostial LAD CTO PCI.

Incidence of acute kidney injury following cardiac catheterization prior to cardiopulmonary bypass in children.
To determine whether contrast administration was a risk factor for development of acute kidney injury (AKI) in cyanotic congenital heart disease (CHD) patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). ⋯ In this study of cyanotic CHD patients, contrast administration within 48 hr prior to CPB was not an additional risk factor for the development of AKI.
