[Application of artificial intelligence in prevention and control of COVID-19 in Guangzhou city].
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, it has spread rapidly throughout the country and even in the world. As a first tier city, Guangzhou is also the South Gate of China, with large population mobility and severe and complex prevention and control situation. Guangzhou CDC, together with Tencent and Alibaba Cloud, has made full use of its artificial intelligence technology to carry out a series of practices in case transmission chain analysis, close contact and other key personnel management, front-line staff prevention and control skills training and convenience services. Through the application of artificial intelligence in different scenarios, the difficulties and challenges in the prevention and control are solved, and the speed of epidemic prevention and control is increased.

[Technical guidelines for seasonal influenza vaccination in China (2020-2021)].
Influenza virus infection is a respiratory infectious disease that can seriously affect human health. Influenza viruses can have frequent antigenic variation and changes, which can result in rapid and widespread transmission resulting in annual epidemics and outbreaks in places of public gathering such as schools, kindergartens and nursing homes. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that seasonal influenza epidemics have caused an annual 3 to 5 million severe cases, and 290000 to 650000 deaths globally. ⋯ Influenza vaccine is also recommended for use in pregnant women during any trimester. These guidelines are intended for use by staff members of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at all levels who work on influenza control and prevention, PoVs staff members, healthcare workers from the departments of pediatrics, internal medicine, and infectious diseases, and staff members of maternity and child care institutions at all levels. These guidelines will be updated periodically as new evidence becomes available.

[Conduct vaccines clinical trials and optimize the immunization strategies].
Development of an effective vaccine requires a long and complicated process. Preclinical studies and phase Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ clinical trials mainly focused on the assessment of the vaccine's safety (tolerability), immunogenicity and efficacy before license. ⋯ In this special issue, published several articles, which reported the main results of pre-license clinical trials and post-marketing evaluation of various vaccines, it was extremely useful to support vaccine licensing and market use. We encourage the continuous clinical studies and post-marketing evaluation of vaccines, including the novel corona virus-19 vaccines, to provide technical support for the population use, under the situation of COVID-19 pandemic.

Comparative Study[Comparison of epidemiological and clinical characteristics of SARS, pandemic (H1N1) 2009 and COVID-19, and consideration of the prevention and control strategies on COVID-19].
In this paper, the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), pandemic (H1N1) 2009 and COVID-19 were compared. Compared with the other two diseases, COVID-19 is more contagious, more concealed in transmission, greater infectious intensity and more severe in clinical manifestations. If the COVID-19 epidemic was not effectively controlled, it would have a serious impact on human health and even social development. Understanding the characteristics of three diseases, especially COVID-19, and improving the awareness of the harmfulness of COVID-19 are of certain significance to the implementation of the guiding principle of "scientific prevention and treatment, precise implementation of strategies" and the prevention and control of COVID-19.

[Total cholesterol and the risk of primary liver cancer in Chinese males: a prospective cohort study].
Objective: To investigate the association between total cholesterol (TC) and primary liver cancer in Chinese males. Methods: Since May 2006, all the male workers, including the employees and the retirees in Kailuan Group were recruited in the Kailuan male dynamic cohort study. Information about demographics, medical history and TC levels was collected at the baseline interview, as well as information on newly-diagnosed primary liver cancer cases during the follow-up period. ⋯ Subgroup analyses found that the association between TC levels and primary liver cancer was robust (all Pfor trend<0.05). The results didn't change significantly after exclusion of newly-diagnosed cases within the first 2 years, males with history of cirrhosis or subjects who took antihyperlipidemic drugs, participants with higher TC levels had a lower risk of primary liver cancer (all Pfor trend<0.05) and HR(95%CI) of incident primary liver cancer among participants with the highest quartile TC levels were 0.41 (0.28-0.61), 0.36 (0.25-0.53) and 0.38 (0.26-0.54), respectively. Conslusion: In this large prospective study, we found that baseline TC levels were inversely associated with primary liver cancer risk, and low TC level might increase the risk of primary liver cancer.
