Forensic medical experts are offered a set of morphological signs which help identify the gunshot origin of a skull injury, identify which of the injuries is the inlet and which is the outlet, specify the direction of the shot and succession of formation of injuries in cases with several shots. The author suggests evaluating a gunshot wound in the head with due consideration for the mechanisms of its formation. From a complex of signs of a gunshot injury to the brain skull he singles out the tissue defect with a conical channel and the edge of bone defect, additional injury to the external compact plate near the inlet, and type, number, and location of the radial and concentric cracks. Analysis of the morphology of the above listed signs of gunshot injuries to the skull notable extends the potentialities of forensic medical expert evaluation in cases with gunshot injuries.

The authors analyze the flaws in medical care rendered at various public health institutions by the results of 2436 expert committee conclusions, verified at bureaus of forensic medical expert evaluations. The essence and causes of these defects at the hospital and prehospital stages of medical care, rendered by physicians of different specializations and nurses, are analyzed.

[Crystallographic analysis of liquor for diagnosis and life-time evaluation of craniocerebral injury].
Liquor specimens were examined by crystallography in 136 patients with craniocerebral injuries of different severity, hospitalized at the neuroinjury department of Kaliningrad Emergency Hospital and in 12 normal subjects in 1997-1998. The crystallograms were evaluated by a sum of signs, as a result of which specific patterns of colony growth in health and craniocerebral injury of different severity were obtained.
