Meta AnalysisThe role of collagenase ointment in acute burns: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to summarise the state of the literature in regard to the efficacy and uses of clostridial collagenase ointment (CCO) in the burn patient. ⋯ CCO may be a safe and effective debridement agent for burn wounds with respect to decreasing wound healing time and minimising pain without increasing the risk of infection. It should be used on a case-by-case basis due to its financial cost, which may be offset by its ability to manage burns non-operatively.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyDiabetic foot ulcer treatment with focused shockwave therapy: two multicentre, prospective, controlled, double-blinded, randomised phase III clinical trials.
To investigate the efficacy of focused extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) as an adjunctive treatment for neuropathic diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) (1A or 2A on the University of Texas grading scheme), compared with sham treatment. ⋯ The outcome of these two trials suggests that ESWT is an effective therapeutic modality in combination with standard care for neuropathic DFU that do not respond to standard care alone.

The Point Project is an initiative between the two organisations: D-Foot International and the International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP-IFP). Both organisations promote the role of evidence-based foot care for patients with and at risk of diabetes. This collaborative work highlights the podiatric skills needed in order to deliver comprehensive evidence-based care to patients with diabetic foot disease. ⋯ People with diabetes deserve the best care that they can receive, irrespective of the resources available. By working together we have been able to identify the podiatric knowledge, skills and behaviours required to provide evidence-based care. The next step is to work together to ensure consistent delivery of these globally for the benefit of those suffering the debilitating consequences of diabetic foot disease.

Comparative StudyClinical and in vitro performance of an antibiofilm Hydrofiber wound dressing.
To compare the clinical and in vitro performance of a next-generation antibiofilm silver dressing (NGAD) with an established antimicrobial dressing technology that was developed before the recognition of wound biofilm as a clinical challenge. ⋯ Antimicrobial dressings may be effective against biofilm in some laboratory models, but their effectiveness as a wound dressings in protocols of care must be verified clinically.

Increasing productivity with smartphone digital imagery wound measurements and analysis.
The primary aim was to determine the productivity increase using digital imagery for better documentation and analysis. A case series was done in a specialised care centre with patients managed with advanced dressings and using state-of-the-art smartphone technology for documentation to save costs and time. ⋯ The app provided a non-contact, easy to use, reliable and accurate smart wound management solution for clinicians and physicians to track wound healing in patients. The app could also be used by patients and caregivers for home monitoring of their wounds.
