The effects of tramadol and levobupivacaine infiltration on postoperative analgesia in functional endoscopic sinus surgery and septorhinoplasty.
The aim of this prospective, randomized, double-blind study was to investigate the postoperative analgesic effects of levobupivacaine or tramadol infiltration administered prior to surgery in septorhinoplasty (SRP) or endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). ⋯ Our study indicates that the preemptive tramadol infiltration technique is an efficient, practical and safe alternative to levobupivacaine in ESS or SRP operations.

Evaluation of antinociceptive and neurotoxic effects of intrathecal dexmedetomidine in rats.
Dexmedetomidine has been reported to produce analgesia after intrathecal administration. In the present study the α2-adrenoceptor agonist dexmedetomidine was evaluated for its potential spinal neurotoxic effects. ⋯ We observed that intrathecal injections of dexmedetomidine at the dose of 3 μg/30 μL produce antinociception but did not cause any histopathological sign of injury in the spinal cord.
