Comparative Study
Matched-cohort analysis of patients with prostate cancer followed with observation or treated with three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy.
To compare the outcome of similar patients with prostate cancer treated by either observation or three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3-DCRT). ⋯ Observation is a reasonable alternative to treatment in selected patients. During the 5-year follow-up the progression rates were relatively low, and there was no difference in distant metastasis or overall survival between the groups. As the follow-up was short a longer follow-up is needed to determine whether the outcome of those patients who chose observation will remain comparable to that in those undergoing immediate 3-DCRT.

To evaluate the effect of intravesical resiniferatoxin on spinal c-fos expression and bladder volume at reflex micturition in rats with chronic urinary bladder inflammation. ⋯ Intravesical resiniferatoxin decreases c-fos expression and increases bladder capacity in chronically inflamed rat bladders. These findings suggest that desensitizing the vanilloid receptor type 1 by intravesical resiniferatoxin is relevant to the treatment of pain and voiding frequency in patients with chronic inflammatory bladder conditions.

To assess the result of surgery for adrenal neoplasia with thrombus in the supra-diaphragmatic infra-atrial inferior vena cava. ⋯ Thrombi from adrenal neoplasia in the supra-diaphragmatic infra-atrial inferior vena cava may be removed with no need for cardiopulmonary bypass and cardiac arrest, thus avoiding the associated morbidity and high cost.
