[Diagnostics of Interstitial Lung Diseases - Practical Instructions with a Focus on Rheumatologic Systemic Diseases].
Interstitial lung diseases (ILD) are etiologically heterogeneous with unknown and known causes like rheumatologic systemic diseases differing in their therapeutic and prognostic consequences. In consensus between pulmonologists, rheumatologists, radiologists, and pathologists, we developed practical instructions for ILD diagnosis in rheumatologic systemic diseases, in particular because ILD can present in early stages of rheumatic systemic diseases. ⋯ The occurrence of acute exacerbations is especially critical. They are often the causes for ILD progression and are associated with considerable mortality.

Review[Drug therapy interventions for acute SARS-CoV-2 infection: who, when, and what?]
There is a variety of drug therapy options for treatment of acute SARS-CoV-2 infections. The updated S3 guideline "Recommendations for inpatient therapy of patients with COVID-19" provides clear recommendations in this regard. Which therapy is best suited for which patient and in which phase of the disease must be decided individually based on risk factors, comorbidities and contraindications. This article provides an overview.

[Generalist palliative care in hospitals during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic].
In the research network of German university palliative care centers (PallPan), as part of Network University Medicine (NUM), recommendations for action were developed in regard to the care provided for seriously ill and dying patients during a pandemic. For this purpose, the experiences and needs of hospital staff working closely with patients outside of specialized palliative care units during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic were also examined. ⋯ Experiences and suggestions for improving palliative care in pandemic times are integrated into the PallPan recommendations for action. Family visits should be allowed and supplemented by digital offers. Palliative Care should also be integrated into both pandemic and contingency plans.

[Nomenclature for kidney function and kidney diseases - Improving assessment and prognosis through precision and comprehensibility].
Kidney disease represents an increasing global health problem. Its mitigation requires effective communication between all stakeholders involved in assessment, diagnosis and therapy and individuals affected by kidney disease. ⋯ Guiding principles for this process were (1) precision, (2) patient-centeredness and (3) consistency with KDIGO guidelines. The current position paper includes a translation of this nomenclature into German that was developed on behalf of the national societies for nephrology in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
