Moral distress: A theorized model of influences to facilitate mitigation and resilience.
Moral distress results from the threat to professional moral integrity and identity. This phenomenon is well documented in nursing literature. Persistent and unresolved moral distress is frequently linked to high nursing staff turnover and shortages. ⋯ The model highlights where opportunities lay to take action to avoid or minimize the negative consequences of this phenomenon. Professional resilience is achieved via the conscientious development of professional identity and practice of critical reflection, as components of enculturation of nurses into the profession. Undergraduate and further nurse education activities must focus on developing the necessary attitude, confidence, and skills to address issues in practice which contribute to the experience moral distress to build resilience.

Professional values and professional quality of life among mental health nurses: A cross-sectional study.
This study aims to investigate the relationship between the professional values and professional quality of life of nurses working in mental health units. This descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational study was conducted with a sample of 120 nurses working in mental health units of one regional, one public, and one university hospital in western Turkey. Data were collected using an introductory information form, the Nurses Professional Values Scale-Revised, and the Professional Quality of Life-IV Scale. ⋯ Nurses' professional values, education level, whether considering changing units, and allocation of time to social life were significant predictors of professional quality of life, explaining 44% of the total variance for Compassion Satisfaction and 24% for Burnout. Whether considering changing units was the most important predictor of compassion satisfaction, and truth value was the most important predictor of burnout. Nurses providing care based on professional values were found to have higher compassion satisfaction and burnout levels, and nurses with higher compassion satisfaction were found to experience less compassion fatigue.

Factors that affect the duration of wearing disposable personal protective equipment by healthcare professionals in Wuhan during treatment of COVID-19 patients: An epidemiological study.
The purpose of this study of healthcare workers who cared for COVID-19 patients was to identify factors that affected the duration of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). The results of this study will provide initial guidance to practicing clinicians and a foundation for further research on this topic. This cross-sectional study examined 139 frontline healthcare professionals who worked at a single hospital in Wuhan, China, from March 16 to April 1, 2020. ⋯ The mean duration of wearing personal protective equipment was 194.17 min (standard deviation: 3.71). Multiple linear regression analysis indicated that the duration of wearing personal protective equipment was significantly associated with the presence of a chronic disease, working hours when feeling discomfort, lack of patient cooperation and subsequent psychological pressure, prolonged continuous wearing of personal protective equipment, feeling anxious about physical strength, and the presence of fatigue when wearing personal protective equipment. These factors should be considered by practicing healthcare professionals and in future studies that examine the optimal duration of wearing personal protective equipment.

E-portfolios and Entrustable Professional Activities to support competency-based education in dietetics.
The concept of Entrustable Professional Activities, recently pioneered in medical education, has emerged to support the implementation of competency-based education. Although competency-based frameworks are widely used in healthcare professional education to develop outcomes-based curricula, assessment of student competency in professional placement settings remains challenging. The novel concept of Entrustable Professional Activities together with established methods of competency assessment, namely e-portfolios and self-assessment, was implemented in the "[La Trobe University Dietetic program in 2015-2016. ⋯ Dietetics students were comfortable with Entrustable Professional Activities and competency-based assessment, whereas supervisors preferred Entrustable Professional Activity based assessment. All stakeholders valued student self-assessment and the ongoing use of structured e-portfolios to develop and document competency. The use of structured e-portfolios, student self-assessment, and the emerging concept of Entrustable Professional Activities are useful tools to support dietetics student education in professional placement settings.
