Case Reports[Clinical and therapeutic approach to Klippel-Feil syndrome in the primary care medicine].
A case of Klippel-Feil syndrome in a female nine years is informed. The patient presented a clinical picture compatible with Klippel-Feil syndrome: short neck with joint movements diminished and low hair implantation. We showed the diagnostics and treatment approach at the primary medicine level, the follow-up until the presence of clinical manifestations of the main clinical problems associated. The liver, cardiovascular, audiology, and muscle-bones are describe and finally some aspects of her physical rehabilitation.

Case Reports[Tracheal stenosis as a initial manifestation of relapsing polychondritis. Case report].
Relapsing polychondritis is a rare multisystemic disease, of unknown origin, characterized by recurrent swelling, destruction of cartilages and connective tissue mainly of the ear and nose cartilages. Complications of the airways (laryngeal and tracheal stenosis) occur late in the disease. We present a case of a male with relapsing polychondritis which appeared initially as a tracheal stenosis (laryngeal stridor, exertional dyspnea) followed by cutaneous lesions, swelling of the ear and nose cartilage (deformity of nose septum in the shape of a saddle). ⋯ A biopsy of the ear cartilage showed signs of chondritis. The patient responded satisfactorily to steroids and dilatation of stenosis; however, one year later he died of respiratory insufficiency. Tracheal stenosis is a sign of ominous prognosis in relapsing polychondritis.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Subarachnoid blockade with ropivacaine versus bupivacaine in urologic and orthopedic surgery].
To compare the effects of intrathecal isobaric ropivacaine (IR) versus isobaric bupivacaine (IB) in a dose ratio of 3:2 in non-ambulatory urologic and orthopedic surgery. ⋯ The motor blockade was longer in the IB group but postoperative analgesia was better in the IR group.

Comparative Study[Procalcitonin a marker in the diagnostic of the newborn with systemic infection].
Laboratory test used in the diagnosis of neonatal sepsis have a low specificity. Recently, procalcitonin has been proposed as a marker to identify the presence of systemic infections. The objective of the study was to evaluate the sensibility and specificity of procalcitonin as a marker of systemic infection in newborn with a suspicion of neonatal sepsis using a blood culture as a gold standard. ⋯ Positive procalcitonin has a good sensibility and moderate specificity 48 hours after clinical diagnosis of neonatal sepsis.

In 1958, Cantrell etal. described a rare syndrome in neonates. The description of the syndrome was characterized by a midline supraumbilical defect encompassing a thoracoabdominal omphalocele and ectopia cordis, a defect of the lower sternum, ventral diaphragmatic and pericardial defects, and other congenital cardiac anomalies. ⋯ Early detection of these anomalies is very important for the diagnosis and surgical planning, and subsequently for prognostic implications.
