Comparative StudyComparison of Amrubicin and Weekly Cisplatin/Etoposide/Irinotecan in Patients With Relapsed Small-cell Lung Cancer.
Although several agents have been introduced for the treatment of relapsed small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), there is still only limited evidence regarding second- and later-line chemotherapies for these patients. ⋯ AMR showed a favorable trend compared with PEI in terms of the progression-free survival and feasibility in SCLC patients with relapsed disease. Based on our findings, we suggest that a randomized trial comparing AMR and PEI is warranted.

Prognostic Significance of FDG Uptake of Bone Marrow on PET/CT in Patients With Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer After Curative Surgical Resection.
This study evaluated the relationship between 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in bone marrow (BM) on positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) imaging and serum inflammatory markers and assessed the prognostic value of FDG uptake of BM in patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who underwent curative surgical resection. ⋯ FDG uptake of BM on PET/CT imaging was correlated with serum inflammatory markers and was an independent predictor for RFS, along with FDG uptake of NSCLC.

Location Matters: Stage I Non-Small-cell Carcinomas of the Lower Lobes Treated With Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy Are Associated With Poor Outcomes.
The lung is a heterogeneous organ with relative overperfusion of the lung bases. We determined whether a lower lobe primary tumor location was associated with poor outcomes in the setting of stage I non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT). ⋯ Lower lobe stage I NSCLC tumors treated with SBRT are associated with poor relapse-free and overall survival.
