[Transoral radiofrequency coblation surgery for the treatment of hypopharyngeal carcinoma].
Objective: To explore the feasibility and effectiveness of transoral surgery (TOS) for the treatment of hypopharyngeal carcinoma by means of the radiofrequency coblation(RFC). Methods: Twenty-two patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma who were treated with TOS using RFC during the years of 2010-2016 were enrolled. Among these patients, 15 suffered from pyriform sinus carcinoma, 4 suffered from postcricoid carcinoma, and 3 suffered from posterior hypopharyngeal wall carcinoma. ⋯ All patients had no disorders in speech, swallowing and respiration during the follow up. Conclusions: The RFC can be applied in TOS for the treatments of hypopharyngeal carcinoma with high cutting efficiency and better control of intraoperative hemorrhage, which is useful in lowering the operation difficulty. The oncologic results are comparable to the open surgery with satisfactory postoperative organ function preservation.

[A combination use of endoscope and microscope in cerebral pontine angle surgery].
Objective: To evaluate the application of combination use of microscope and endoscope in cerebral pontine angle (CPA) surgery. Methods: A total of 72 patients undergone lateral skull base surgeries via endoscope under microscopic control from January 2006 to January 2015 was reviewed respectively. The patients including 35 males and 37 females were composed of 22 cases of vestibular swannnomas, 45 cases of cranial neuropathy and 5 cases of CPA chelesteatoma. ⋯ There was also no facial palsy or other complications in 5 cases of CPA chelesteatoma, which gained completely surgical removal; useful hearing was preserved in 3 of 5 cases of these patients and no recurrence was occurred during 1-1.5 years follow-up. Conclusions: A combination use of endoscope and microscope could combine advantages and avoid disadvantages of two techniques. It can provide better exposure with minimal invasion in CPA surgery, and is especially applicable in surgery for cranial neuropathy, vestibular schwannoma and CPA cholesteatoma, which should be performed through retrosigmoid approach and retrolabyrinthine approach.

[The validity and reliability of simplified Chinese version of the pediatric sleep questionnaire for screening children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in Beijing].
Objective: To evaluate the validity and reliability of the simplified Chinese version of pediatric sleep questionnaire (PSQ) used in screening obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) of children in Beijing. Methods: Children with snoring who presented to the Sleep Center of Beijing Children's Hospital between August 2014 and July 2015 and healthy children were included in the study. All children underwent PSG and then were divided into OSAS group and control group based on the PSG and their guardians were asked to complete the simplified Chinese version of PSQ that was formed by both translation from PSQ and retroversion to PSQ. ⋯ In receiver operating characteristic curve, the area under curve of simplified Chinese version PSQ score was 0.922 with P<0.05 and the cutoff value of PSQ score was 7 in 22 items with the sensitivity of 0.776, specificity of 0.867, positive predictive value of 0.868 and negative prediction value of 0.774. Conclusions: The simplified Chinese version of PSQ is suitable to the screen of OSAS for the children in Beijing area with good reliability and validity. It also has acceptable sensitivity and specificity for screening children with OSAS when the cutoff score is 7 points.
