The aim of this prospective study was to investigate the feasibility and report the short-term results of a new procedure for treatment of pudendal neuralgia, consisting of transperineal injections of autologous adipose tissue with stem cells along the Alcock's canal. ⋯ The new technique seems to be easy, with low risk of complications, and with significant improvement of symptoms in the short period. A larger study with appropriate controls and longer follow-up is now needed to assess its real effectiveness.

New Formulation of Sustained Release Naloxone Can Reverse Opioid Induced Constipation Without Compromising the Desired Opioid Effects.
An international double-blind randomized placebo controlled study evaluated the safety and efficacy of four doses of a new sustained release naloxone capsule to treat Opioid Induced Constipation (OIC). ⋯ This Phase II study has shown that using a new sustained release formulation to deliver oral naloxone to the colon allows successful treatment of OIC without comprising the desired opioid effects.

Develop a risk index to estimate the likelihood of life-threatening respiratory depression or overdose among medical users of prescription opioids. ⋯ RIOSORD performed well in identifying medical users of prescription opioids within the Veterans' Health Administration at elevated risk of overdose or life-threatening respiratory depression, those most likely to benefit from preventive interventions. This novel, clinically practical, risk index is intended to provide clinical decision support for safer pain management. It should be assessed, and refined as necessary, in a more generalizable population, and prospectively evaluated.
