Randomized Controlled Trial
Effect of pregabalin augmentation in treatment of patients with combat-related chronic posttraumatic stress disorder: a randomized controlled trial.
It has been suggested that the anticonvulsant drug pregabalin may be useful in some anxiety disorders. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of pregabalin augmentation of standard treatment (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and sodium valproate) for patients with chronic posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). ⋯ Pregabalin effectively reduced the severity of PTSD symptoms but it was not effective in improving the severity of depression, anxiety, and quality of life. Further investigations are required to confirm or refute these findings.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Efficacy and safety of desvenlafaxine 25 and 50▒mg/day in a randomized, placebo-controlled study of depressed outpatients.
This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of low-dose desvenlafaxine (administered as desvenlafaxine succinate) in treating major depressive disorder (MDD). ⋯ Consistent with other clinical studies, desvenlafaxine 50▒mg/day demonstrated antidepressant efficacy and appears to be the minimally effective dosage for MDD. ClinicalTrials study identifier NCT00798707.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study
Efficacy and safety of oral aripiprazole compared with haloperidol in patients transitioning from acute treatment with intramuscular formulations.
To report efficacy and safety of transitioning patients receiving intramuscular (IM) formulations of aripiprazole or haloperidol to their respective oral formulations. ⋯ Acutely agitated patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder treated with aripiprazole IM or haloperidol IM demonstrated similar effective and safe transition to their respective oral formulations. Initial benefits of reduced agitation and improved clinical status during the IM phase of the study were maintained throughout the oral phase of the study with good tolerability.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Risperidone versus haloperidol, in combination with lorazepam, in the treatment of acute agitation and psychosis: a pilot, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
To compare oral risperidone and intramuscular (IM) haloperidol, both in combination with IM lorazepam, in the management of acute agitation and psychosis in the medical emergency department. ⋯ Lorazepam alone was as effective as lorazepam plus haloperidol or lorazepam plus risperidone in this small trial. While not statistically significant, a trend toward better outcomes with combined treatment warrants further study.
