A comparison of the nursing practice environment in mental health and medical-surgical settings.
To examine the differences between characteristics of the work environment of nurses working in mental health and general acute inpatient nursing settings. ⋯ Factors in the medical and surgical nursing practice environment have been established as significant influences on nurse and patient outcomes. It is important to understand the existence and potential impact of these factors in mental health inpatient settings.

Numerous study results vary when analyzing the relationship between labor induction and the likelihood of cesarean delivery; and few have accounted for the multiple influences of maternal sociodemographic characteristics combined with the provider and hospital in subsequent birth outcomes such as cesarean section. ⋯ Nurses should be well educated about the risks of elective labor induction prior to term gestation and "elective" cesarean birth.
